This is probably the next original Gundam design I've ever seen. It's fantastic! Very well done!

I actually downloaded this one, and it was good in concept but has some major flaws. I doubt it would ever see production, even as a prototype in the Gundam multi-verse. Transformable types are expensive, extremely expensive. That’s why they were abandoned after Zeta and ZZ in the original Gundam world. This mech just plain has too many moving parts, which translates to more things that can break. Also, the shield isn’t compatible with the transformation process, which would be even more problematic. I would suggest removing the pivot function of the shield and moving the two pieces onto the shoulders--like the Zaku's L shield when in robot form—and then it would swivel up and around to clamp into place. This would increase the functionality of this mech's transformation sequence and also make it so that the shield is more than just for looks. (In regards to solid ballistics, I would also make the neck more solid since the MS’s don’t need to look up and down. The head is mainly for show; it has cameras and sensors, yes, but by the time transformable suits came about there were a large amount of scanners being placed in the frame itself. Also, the moving frame is unneeded since it just becomes a maintenance liability with little functionality; most transformable suits would find the moving frame would get in the way, and it would require more programming to hold it steady since it doesn’t contract into itself for stability. However, it is a really beautiful mobile suit and worthy of more honor and praise than I have given it. I would love to make a paper craft out of it and I also like how the face is reminiscent of the R1 from Super Robot Wars. I love how you make your models so smooth in SketchUp--do you sandbox them or use the smooth edges tool? Also, you’re bold to have actually posted the files for this one after the last one was so widely pirated. I’m not nearly as courageous at execution as you are. I’d give design a 4 or 5, but execution and craftsmanship a 10. I can’t wait till the next one comes out. Also, you might try V-Ray for rendering, It’s really good for reflections, and I think it’s also free.

Thanks for your comment. Most of the things you pointed out 'bout the transformation are true. But since real life physics don't apply in anime I just went crazy XD. And about the way I made all of my models, believe it or not, I didn't use a single ruby/plugin.

Now that is simply astounding to hear, that must have taken far too long, I remember the last time you put out a Gundam, I think I was still making my Rx-78 or my Zaku. Its always a pleasure to dissect your works, I’ll probably play around with this one in Maya when I get the silly program back up and running. I’ll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one, that’s for sure.

Is Kerkitheya a 3d program? i heard that alot, is it the same like 3d max? or better?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Illsteir In reply to Rekkou [2008-07-29 06:55:29 +0000 UTC]

Nope. It's a free 3d rendering program you can integrate with Google Sketchup and other 3d modeling softwares.

Oh, yeah, i just wanna ask, what VGA card do you use? there's 3d modeling lesson on my next semester and my PC performance still not good enough

Illsteir In reply to Rekkou [2008-07-29 16:21:25 +0000 UTC]

Haha. My PC is probably worse XD
My rig runs on the following hardware
1.62ghz AMD Sempron 2400+
Geforce FX 5500 128bit 128MB
521 MB Ram
hmm... what else am I missing...
That's the reason why I don't produce a lot of rendered images. This image alone took an hour and a half to render in my rig x_x
