With the over-popularity of how ponies are created makes it rather difficult to come up with artwork that appears original or unique, so understandably it's a difficult obstacle to overcome when making fan art or pony OC's for people (specially when their OC can seem rather simple). You did quite the amazing job on executing this person's OC, adding enough of your personal touch without taking from the originality of this persons character. I do want to say that the background is also very nice, the contrast of the yellow goes well with the red orange/tangerine tint you have going there. However I do feel like there is something missing out of the finished piece. I can't quite point it out, it just seems like it's missing an element that could make this image feel more whole. Like perhaps a shadow on the ground of the OC, or some abstract colors to fill in the space around the OC.

The only reason I gave the Vision element a 4/5 is because I was scrolling through artworks in my feed and this one didn't scream "CLICK ME" as much as the others have. Of course when I clicked it and went to investigate it further I realized it was an amazing piece of work that I didn't expect to look so amazing up close considering the feed-view icon of it suggested otherwise. I am over all pleased that I went to look closer because had I not, I would have missed out on such a lovely piece.
I can see how it could easily be overlooked though to other deviants browsing their feeds. Maybe it's the soft shadings that put it off from afar? Maybe it lacks a slight contrast adjustment with the line-to-color ratio (even tho seeing it up close I would disagree with myself). Sorry to be confusing XD ~

Despite the rest of the ratings, I really have to say in true honesty that the execution of this artwork is just amazing. You did such an amazing job! I think I'll even watch you just to see what else you can carve out of that artistic mind of yours ^_^ Well done!! I can't wait to see more!

You bring up some very valid points, yes. About the 'something missing' with the background, I felt the same a bit, I tried adding more white fluffs in the background and floor around him and I'm working on making more interesting backgrounds; they've never been a specialty of mine really.
I've been practicing my pastel coloring and shading lately, so I do have a lot more to learn about making the shades look more 'eye-catching', yes! I'll practice more on the color/lineart balances, thank you for pointing that out!

I had no idea this image was in the works. It should come as no surprise to hear that your art style is wonderful. The picture reminds me of some sort of storybook. Your soft use of colour sets little Scuttlebutt aglow. Alas, I am not an artist, and so I'm afraid my skills are lacking when it comes to commenting extensively on art.
