Description As promised to those who have been asking about my soft cel shading process, here it is.
I tried to keep it simple and basic, I'm sorry if it's too lengthy or complicated still~
This tutorial is for tablet users and uses Photoshop CS6. I don't know if it's compatible with other software such as PaintTool SAI, GIMP and the like. ^^'
Finished piece Β

I hope it helps you, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Hehe, it's really a very simple technique!
It's just a manner of patience with all the layers and clipping masks and stuff I use for each color's lighting/shading that can get a little hectic at times.

Awww, you flatter.
I think you can use this method on SAI too if your PS doesn't work, as SAI also has Clipping Masks and filters. ^3^

The secret is out! O___O This is pretty damn awesome..but I think, somewhere, your rivals are gloating and pondering to use your weapons against you! ...but in all seriousness, it's really cool to share your tools-of-the-trade and I'm sure a lot of people will be happy with this

Oooh thank you for this Rift!!! I shall get to studying! XD
I use Sai though, but I think the same principles and concepts can easily be applied!

Ahh hehe, it was a pleasure to make this Escada, I hope it's easy to follow! <33
I think as long as you have the SAI equivalent of Clipping Masks, you'll be fine.

Yup in Sai you can clip a layer to another so you are only working within that area, should work slick! ^^

Awesome! (I haven't tried out SAI at all ehe, I'm too accustomed to PS - @ )

I tried PS for coloring a few times and got really frustrated so I have stuck to Sai and love it! I do use PS for post processing after I have colored though for filters and color balancing etc.

Ahh, I see!
I've actually heard the same from many other SAI users, they tend to find PS over-complicated in comparison to SAI~
I started out with PS though, so when I tried out SAI for the first time, it was very confusing for me too haha. I actually want to learn to use it because people say it's great for making lineart, but I'm already too accustomed to PS's layout and tools. Whatever works for each artist, I suppose!

Yeah, I think there is a comfort zone that happens when you work with a program from a while and then when you switch to another it can be a challenge! ^^
