   “Did you really think I forgot?” he asked feigning shock. Out of nowhere he produced a black ornately carved coffin about the size of his hand.

   “Go on, open it,” he said with barely disguised excitement in his voice.

   It creaked open, as the hinges were new. I could not suppress a sharp intake of breath. “Wow… I don't know what to say…” Inside was a cross of - I’m sure, silver.

   “Don't say anything” and he leaned over for a kiss that barely touched my lips.

   “Let me say it again… Wow.” The only thing getting in the way was that I still hadn’t thanked him properly yet.

   “You mean the kiss or the cross?”

   “How about both?” I asked with a smile.

   “You know its real silver right?”

   “Really?” I asked. “You must have been saving ages for this, did it cost a fortune?” I couldn't help but feel like I didn't deserve it.

   “Well yes. But I knew you always wanted something like this. Plus this way They wouldn't dare harm you and this could be a protection of sorts.”

   After the accidental death of her boyfriend in a Turning-gone-wrong by unknown rogue vamps, Rain wanders the streets in search of his murderers.
   What she hadn’t expected was finding them after only a year, since vamps were also hard to find. Or that she would be Bound into Servitude by the city’s resident head Vampere.
   While he seemed cruel and psychotic at first Rain discovers that this one vampire may be nicer then she thought – a scary thought at that.
   But soon another of the Vampere linage enters the city and leadership is challenged to Nikolai, Rain’s temporary Master until her vendetta for vengeance is carried out.
   It becomes obvious that the new vampere is not just here for a visit and Rain becomes involved in an age-old struggle for power that could very well end her and Nikolai’s life.
   Not only that but a mysterious stranger lurks in the shadows, can he be trusted as an ally, or is he an enemy?
