I'll start from the subject you chose to capture: ants aren't an easy target for a photographer, as they're tiny and hardly stay still, but I think you did a great job here, as you were able to take a sharp shot of an ant "in action" as well as the moss immediately surrounding it. Your focus is good: we can see many details of the ant's head, legs, and body. I just wish the ant's eye and mandibles had been that little tad sharper.

Besides, I like how you composed your photo, with the subject on the left side of the frame and oriented towards the center of the image. There's also this curve created by the moss and highlighted by the dark patch in the background behind the ant that makes the photo more dynamic and adds impact the the whole image.

I also appreciate the colour contrast you artfully created between the ant's warm brown tone and the cold blue of the moss all around it. Unfortunately, the small green areas that are still visible in certains parts of the ant's body betray the effect. This artistic choice could have benefited from a different editing method for the green colour of the moss, such as a selective colour correction filter to have full control on all green pixels.

Last but not least, your timing to press the shutter and freeze this moment was great, since the ant's position suggests it is actually looking into what must have looked like a huge, dark abyss to this tiny insect. And in your photo, lighting, colour and depth of field make it appear to be an abyss to the viewer, as well. Your title of choice - an apt one - also suggests that and on the whole, your photo is a brilliant capture of an often underestimated creature that shows a good use of your equipment for macro photography, as well as a careful study of light and composition.
