Description
This was my imagining for the interior of this before it was left to the storms.fav.me/dcgecv6
It was a fun use of time for my weekend, and I'm hoping to do more interiors with characters, and dynamic scenes next!
This little scene is part of a project I've been working on, making a world, concepts, items, enemies and a little story!

Haha I imagine it would be quite cosy, with a cup of tea curled up with a good book :3

I mentioned it on the other piece as well but it's really cool to see so much details in darker parts. It's like you cannot take in the painting at one glance- the longer you look, the more you discover!

Yeah, books are a bit of a pain to do though haha, this wasn't my first go at this scene, I made another but I made all the lines wonky so I tried again this weekend!

Looks great
How many hours did it take you? And is it all hand drawn or did you use the help of 3d modeling?

Used 3D Modelling as the base, I'm following some concept artists and their pipeline so I can produce more work, faster, and more intricate

Yeah. A lot of comic artists too that too these days. I've been planning to do it as well, but I never really got the hang of those programs.
Which program did you use? Any tutorials you can recommend?

3DS Max, I've used 3D for University for games, I never really followed tutorials, I just pushed through haha. Um, just make sure you start small, and work up

Let me know how it goes, there are a bunch of different 3D tools, I like 3DS Max because that's what I'm used to, but blender is popular, and has the same stuff and is free. The rendering power is pretty good too, its not like I have VRay and my corona thing isn't that good and it's only on a trial.
So, y'know, this is probs the best time to see what's new and popular and learn that.

I've done 3D once in school, but that's over 10 years ago already and it was so hard it traumatized me for years to come (the software was called Maya. Not the most user friendly stuff)
What do you do after you build the model? Export the lines and then paint? Or do you export the lighting too?

Ilyaev In reply to DamaiMikaz [2018-07-10 03:20:21 +0000 UTC]
Oh I don't like Maya, it's got such an obnoxious interface, 3DS Max is similar, but idk, the interface is a bit easier to navigate. I heard MODO or something is super popular but its hella expensive and I can't get it for free so I can't try it. However there are lots of concept artists that use it because its a bit easier I think?
I render some basic lights yeah, usually I keep the lights as close to my thumbnail sketches, so I have a strong composition. That's the goal anyway haha! You should look for some concept art tutorials online, because they all seem to cover this and they make huuuuge pieces of art.
