You laid there on your bed, staring at the ceiling. Today marks one year since Ace passed away and everyone, excluding you, seems to have forgotten. Ace was your best friend, he always had your back in difficult situations and also gave you handy tips on how to deal with the idiot that you call your captain. You laid there and thought about all the good times, the bad times and all the battles you fought together in. You tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill over, but you failed.

"How could anyone forget about him?! Not even Luffy remembers and he's his god damn brother!" you spoke to yourself. Tears continued to shed from your eyes, you swore you could cry a river right now. You curled up into a ball and buried your head into your knees and cried until you were interrupted by loud knocking at the door. You wiped your face with your shirt, making sure you got rid of any evidence that you had been crying.

"(Y/N), Can I come in?" Said the voice on the other side of the door, you could clearly tell it was Nami.

"Um, yeah, sure." Nami entered the room and you put on the biggest smile you could, but of course it was fake.

"Hey, (Y/N)! Sanji made dinner, wanna come and join us?"

"Oh, um. No, thank you, Nami. I'm not very hungry." You lied. You were starving but you didn't feel like eating around a table full of happy people who couldn't even remember the one year anniversary for their best friends death. You tried to sound as convincing as possible that your weren't hungry, but your stomach gave it away by letting out a very audible growl.

"Oh, really? Well, you certainly don't sound like it. Come on, lets go eat something before the idiots eat it for us." She grabbed your arm and dragged you out of your room and into kitchen where everyone was sat waiting for Sanji to serve his undoubtedly delicious food.

Nami sat down and dragged you down into the seat next to her. You looked around to find Luffy, Chopper and Usopp pulling faces at each other, Sanji adding the finishing touches to the food, Zoro sat with his feet up on the table and leaning back on the back two legs of his chair and Nami and Robin chatting away about god knows what.

"Dinner is served everyone!" Sanji announced. He placed the plates of food in the centre of the table and as soon as those plates touches the hard oak wood of the dinner table, dinner time chaos had began. Everyone was snatching food from each others plates, fighting over the last piece of meat and gnawing on each others arms to try and make them let go.

You really didn't want to eat anything so you sat there and stared down at your legs, still thinking about Ace.

"Hey, (Y/N). Are you ok? You don't look very happy." Sanji asked from across the table.

"I'm fine." You said, still not making eye contact with any of your crew members.

"Are you sure? Is something bothering y-" Sanji began but you cut him off.

"I said I'm fine, OK?" You said quite sternly, you just wanted to be left alone but Nami just had to drag you out to dinner!

"Woah, (Y/N), What's wrong with you, grumpy ass." Zoro asked in a cocky tone, attracting everyones attention towards you.

"What's wrong? With me?" You've never felt as angry and upset as you did right now. You stood up from your seat, slamming the palms of your hands on the table whilst doing so. "I could ask the same to you guys! Do you even know what day it is today?!" You yelled.

"Yeah, it's the 16th of January?" Usopp said, everyone looked confused at each other.

"Yeah! The 16th of January! The day that marks Ace's one year anniversary for his death and who forgot?! Everyone apart from me! I can't believe you could forget him as easily as that! I'm especially disgusted with you Luffy, he's your brother and you can't ever remember when he died!" You yelled, clawing into the table out of frustration; your breathing uneven. Everyones eyes were wide with shock and mouths hung open, they were all speechless.

"(Y/N), wow. We didn't realise, We're sor-" Sanji began but you cut him off.

"Save it, I've had enough... I'm going to bed." You rushed out of the kitchen and into your room. You threw yourself on your bed and buried your head into the pillow and resumed crying and eventually, you fell asleep.

You shot up from your bed while breathing heavily, a bead of sweat ran down your temple. You had a nightmare, it wasn't very common for you to dream at all but tonight was different, given the circumstances.

You looked out of the window, it was still dark. Around about 1:25am.

"Brilliant." You mumbled to yourself. You stood up to get dressed, it was quite warm tonight so you decided to change. You walked over to your clothing drawer and took out out raven black shorts, combat boots and a Guns 'N' Roses shirt, you got dressed then tied your (H/C) hair into a messy bun.

You walked out of your room and into the cool, brisk air. You sat on the side railings of the ship and inhaled and exhaled the fresh air; trying to forget your nightmare. All though, you couldn't help but think back to how harsh you were towards everyone. You looked up at the star covered sky.

"Everything's so screwed up... I'm screwed up." you said, disappointed at how rude you were toward your crew mates.

"Now, you shouldn't think that way, (Y/N). It's not healthy." an unknown voice said from behind you. You whipped around to find a tall, silhouette figure leaning against the mast of the ship. By the tone of their voice, this person was undoubtedly male.

"Who the hell are you? How did you get on our ship but most importantly, how the hell do you know my name?" You asked, having so many questions running through your head about this mystery man.

"Now, now, now, (Y/N). You shouldn't ask old friends so many questions, it's impolite." the man told you while stepping out of the shadow that the mast of the ship cast upon him.

Your eyes widened and your mouth dropped open a little.

"S-Sabo? Is that you?!" You stuttered. There stood the boy who you presumed was dead twelve years ago.

"That's my name don't wear it out." He said. Showing his cheeky little smile.

As soon as he confirmed it you ran to him and jumped into his arms, wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his hips "I missed you so much.." You said into the crook of his neck.

"I missed you too, sunshine." you could feel him smile against your skin.
'Sunshine' the nickname he had given you all those years ago, you loved it when he called you it.

You stayed like that for a while, your legs still wrapped around his hips, arms around his neck and one of his hands supporting your weight, whilst the other hugged you back. He pulled you back to look at you. The moonlight contoured his face in all the right ways.

"I wont ever leave you again, Sunshine." He began while giving you a small smile. "I promise." A tear fell down your face, the moonlight making it look crystal like. "Hey, don't cry. What's the matter?" he asked, wiping the tear away with the pad of his thumb, concern in his eyes.

"I'm just so happy to see you and I've really been in need of my best friend right now." You replied, giving him a smile to insure him you're OK.

"Oh, yeah. It's Ace's anniversary today, isn't it?" his facial expression dropped with realization.

"Yeah, well at least you remembered. Everyone else forgot and I flipped out at them during the dinner." You gave a weak laugh. "I was being such a asshole."

"I guess we can be assholes together because I would have done the same thing." You both laughed.

"You always said we'd do everything together." You smiled "But you still owe me twelve years worth of being assholes together!" You flicked his nose and laughed.

"I'll find a way to make it up to you. Don't worry, Sunshine." He assured you, kissing your forehead. His sudden and unexpected action caused your cheeks to turn slightly red. You looked away in hopes that he wouldn't notice.

"Aww! Is little (Y/N) shy? That's adorable!" The blonde teased while laughing. The truth is, you had always had a crush on Sabo while you were younger, his beautiful eyes, his silky blonde hair and his cheeky smile were always things about him that you adored and all those feelings were pent up inside until his return tonight.

"S-Shut up!" You retorted, your cheeks still red. You pulled on his ear slightly.

"Now, (Y/N), it's not nice to pull on peoples ears!" He joked before poking your side. A shrill shriek escaped you before you clamped a hand over your mouth. Your face turned scarlet as you looked at him, startled by your own reaction. "So, you're ticklish?" a smirk spread across his face. You just stayed silent. He untangled you from his body and stood you up. "I'll give you a five second head start." You just started running, this was going to be difficult considering there's not a lot of space on deck to run to.

After five seconds you heard Sabos foot steps. You didn't know what to do so you hid behind some crates and barrels, but this wasn't enough to fool him. He walked over and moved the crates and barrels out of the way "You're really bad at hiding, aren't you?"

He grabbed your leg and dragged you towards him, the force causing you to fall onto your back. He straddled your waist and pinned both of your hands above your head with one hand leaving your completely defenseless. He started tickling you, shrill giggles escaping your mouth. You wriggled and squirmed under him in attempts to escape.

"No! Please, Sabo! Stop, I can't breathe!" You said in between breaths. His hands quickly pulled back; releasing your wrists. "You're evil! I could have died!" You accused, poking his chest with your index finger. He leaned closer to your face.

"Me? Evil? you're the one pulling at my ear and flicking my nose!"

"That was one time and it was hardly enough to hurt, so shut up!" You retorted, crossing your arms.

"Y'know, (Y/N), I've missed this a lot." He smiled.

"What? You miss torturing me?!" You teased while Sabo got off of you.

"Well, yeah! But I missed being a complete goof with you." he said while offering you a hand which you happily took. He hoisted you up onto your feet but didn't let go of your hand.

"I do too, Sabo. But, I just realised something."

"Hm?" The blonde looked at you quizzically.

"Well, you got back at me for pulling at your ear by tickling me.. So, that means I have something to get back at you for." You looked up at into Sabos sky blue eyes while sliding your hands up to meet behind the back of his neck. You stood of your tip toes and captured his lips and surprisingly, he didn't pull away. His arms slithered around your waist to pull your bodies closer together. One of your hands went and entangled themselves in his hair which had grown a lot longer since his youth. You pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. It was filled with passion and affection, you never knew Sabo ever felt this way about you. Especially after twelve years apart. When you pulled away, you were both left breathless. You both smiled.

"I've been waiting twelve years for that." Sabo said while placing his hat on your head.

His arms slithered around your waist to pull your bodies closer together. One of your hands went and entangled themselves in his hair which had grown a lot longer since his youth. You pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. It was filled with passion and affection, you never knew Sabo ever felt this way about you. Especially after twelve years apart. When you pulled away, you were both left breathless. You both smiled.
