There is no filly Luna in canon so I took the colors from season 1. I used the ridiculous mane style from "Castle Sweet Castle" and made a matching tail.

It would be hidden by the mane except for the base. Showing only the base would look weird, so I decided to make her a pegasus. I think it makes her a little bit cuter, more like a child without worries, not responsible for the moon or something.

The foreground imagery feels really disconnected with the scene. I'm thinking shadows would do it.

Nnnno, not really, because those shadows are not only unindicative as to the location of the light source but also contradictory to what a perspective viewer would figure.
I'd probably have the light source come from about front and center where the window is, and have the shadows leaning into the viewer's perspective, not away from it.
