This comic is actually a response to Tumblr meme shenanigans, pfff.

Originally I was going to have Bull dress as a whirling dervish (because I previously dressed him in a modern kaftan), but after researching the context of the mode of dress, I realized what I was going to do was completely religiously inappropriate. Then I remembered this is the freakin’ 1980s and that I’m completely hooked with the Miami Vice look that was apparantly popular even overseas and not just the US, so why not. Bald Bull in a Miami Vice-styled sports jacket. I can dig it. And of course, I dress Disco Kid in the tackiest 1970s disco get-up I can manage. Meeky and Karcrash suggested the leopard spots as I was livestreaming the base colors xD.
The fez thing came from my research of the dervish and general Turkish outfitting, but what I didn’t realize is that the tassel is supposed to be black (and differently shaped), long after I’ve already inked it from memory. I guess that if it weren’t for Disco’s cultural appropriation, Bull would beat him up for either wearing the fez wrong or just looking like a gaudy eyesore in general.
I promised myself I’d draw Tiger less often, but you know what, screw it, I draw him as often as I freakin’ want. I’ll be that annoying member of the fandom who seems to draw just that one character all the time, though I still intend to draw everyone with some level of frequency. I just have been less inspired lately when it comes to high-quality Punch-Out!! comics.
On the plus side, even though this is hardly my best comic, the amount of effort I’ve put into making the panels and the overall completed results have inspired me to try making fuller sequential art than just comics.
