Are you sure it's not still in use? Some of those power companies can be pretty tight with $ - unless they're giving themselves bonuses, of course!

Oh my! What a find! Looks like it's from 1952, and on top of that it's a Mercury! An upscale utility truck for the Creemore Hydro Company! What a great shot!

In their time, the Mercury's did very well in Canada when compared directly with their Ford counterparts. We seemed to have a slightly different taste for FoMoCo's machinery than our American cousins, even spawning the Meteor line that was 'Canada Only'.
I'm not sure of the actual year of production, although I can look the next time I'm up there. Either way, she's in excellent condition and looks ready to hit the road and do line work any time!

Did not realize the shot was taken in Canada at the time. I know about Meteor and Acadian and such. And that Ford & GM had plants in Canada that produced cars just for that market...not unlike as with Australia. I just never pictured a Mercury Fleet Vehicle before! Never heard of it! That's a great find!

Yup, lots of the Ford and GM vehicles that are sold in the northern half of the continent have been built here in Canada. I think that the entire last generation of Camaros and Firebirds were all built here in Ontario, too.
Either way, we loved our Mercury cars and trucks here in Canada!
