Description Doodled this at work on a really slow day. Wanted to play with my water soluble pencils but left my full set at home, so only had a couple to play with hence the blah colors. I plan on going back over it to try to brighten it up some. Would you believe that background color is supposed to be steel blue? Looks straight grey to me.
I was interrupted during part of my wash so its a bit messed up too.

It kinda looks more like he's tumbling or falling than flipping I guess. I didn't really think it through when I was drawing.

This is so cute! I love your little foxes.

What water soluble pencils do you like?

Thanks
I have a couple Derwent singles from when I was trying it out to see if I liked it, I think I actually found those locally at Michaels or Pearl. This is from those because I didn't have my other set with me. I got a 30 set of the Caran d'Ache aquarelle pencils after I knew I wanted to do it more They're a bit expensive much like Prismacolor pencils are but I'd been told they were the best and I like them. I didn't see too many stores with that brand tho I shopped around a bit. [link] (Dick Blick has singles too, I think I may have gotten a couple to tweak the set.)

The Derwents I have are considered 'graphitint' rather than 'watercolor pencils' so they're darker colors, its more like graphite with a bit of color. I also got the light, medium, and dark wash types of their water soluble sketching pencils which I like. The Caran d'Ache pencils are considered 'water soluble colored pencils'. I'm not clear what the difference between that a 'watercolor pencil' is or if its just a different way of saying the same thing.

Wow! Those Caran D'Ache pencils look really nice. maybe I'll pick up a few singles and try them out. I have a small set of Derwent's original watercolor pencils and they're not bad, but I was wondering if the caran D'Ache ones might be a bit smoother.

Derwent has light, medium, and dark water soluble sketching pencils? That sounds pretty cool. Are they just shades of gray/black?

I'd say they feel and spread better in the way a Prismacolor feels a bit better than some other pencils. Its not as big a difference I think as like Prismacolor vs Crayola but worth trying out.

Yeah the Derwent light, medium, and dark wash pencils are basically like water-soluble regular graphite pencils in like HB, 4B, and 8B, so its just fun if you wanted to do something monochrome. You probably don't even need to pick up all of them but I did in case I wanted them. I'm pretty satisfied with their pencils, I think they're a little better than their color ones. Like this is just done with the pencils- [link]
Its a little hard to tell its even washed but I think it softens the shading and lines and I like the effect.

I think I showed you the basic Derwent color ones I had last AFO?
