Ricky teaches Goji some key important factors about selling Digivices to customers.
There's a lot to consider with the different models. When comparing the features between the DMX and DM20, the DMX is far superior. For instance it has Cold Mode, which allows you to pause your Digimon without the need for the reset trick. It also has a much more engaging Quest Mode. While DM20's Colosseum Mode only has you fighting linearly in an arena, the X's Quest Mode has you clearing 30 different areas, with each area containing different enemies, bosses and reward items for your troubles. That's right, reward items! While the DM20 only lets you feed your Digimon meat and protein, the DMX lets you give them different chips, plugins boards and other stuff to increase their HP, AP and PW. Utilizing these items can help you complete quests, or help you in PvP battles with other DMX users.
Battles are more engaging on the DMX as well. On the DM20, your Digimon's power is determined by how many times you push the button before the battle, to fill up the power gauge. Meanwhile, the DMX has you roll the XAI (X-antibody Indicator) which is like a 7 sided dice.
The number that it lands on determines the speed of the power meter.
You must stop the power gauge on a high peak, in order to increase your Digimon's power for that round.
However, while items and a good XAI roll can help, a main thing that helps your Digimon in battle is its level. Every time you defeat a boss in Quest Mode, you gain experience points, which can level up your Digimon. Your Digimon's level even affects certain evolutions, so there is a lot to keep track of!
On top of that, the DMX's storage feature allows you to store and raise 3 Digimon per device, swapping them out to raise them one at a time. In comparison, the DM20 only allows you to have 2 Digimon at a time, and they both must be raised simultaneously (albeit easy and intuitive to do).
However, while all of this makes the DMX sound superior in every way, there are some things that the DM20 have over it.
While the X has more features, it also is a lot harder to raise your Digimon down the path that you want. On the DM20, you just have to worry about feeding, training, cleaning their poop and battling a bit. The X is the same, except on top of that, you have to level them up to a very specific level, to coincide with intentional care mistakes, depending on what Digimon you want, as well as defeating a specific area boss. It can be overwhelming, ne? As such, perhaps the DM20's simpler care system would be easier to start out with, and once you get the hang of it then the DMX would be a good upgrade.
On top of that, if you are just getting into Digimon, the roster of the DM20 is better. It contains all 5 eggs from the original Digital Monster series from 1997, meaning that a large portion of the cast of Digimon Adventure are there. On top of that, eggs for newer Digimon are also included, increasing variety. Meanwhile, the X has a very heavy focus on X-Antibody Digimon, which are Digimon that are pretty much exclusive to the Digital Monster X-Evolution story. It is sort of like an outlier of the series, and is not really a good first impression for those who are new to the franchise.
I would often point out that the XAI function on the X is more engaging, and the fridge is more convenient, but after discussing it on the w0rld server, I can see now that, as a starting device, the DM20 really does seem a bit better. The DMX and PenZ are then good upgrades from there, in the event that you enjoy the DM20 and want to get more serious about it.
If you want to purchase a DM20, you can do so right here: www.amazon.com/Digimon-Origina…
If you want to purchase a DMX, you can do so on the same Amazon page: www.amazon.com/Digimon-Origina…
For a more casual, laid-back experience, you can go for the Vital Bracelet. It's not a v-pet, but is more like an exercise pedometer game. It's a different experience than raising a Digimon, and it is also not going to be compatible with w0rld for legal reasons. ^v^;
The Vital Bracelet is of course still fun. I feel like there is a different feeling of reward to raising a Digimon on the Vital Bracelet as compared to a traditional v-pet. The two can't really be compared, ne? Of the two, I prefer the traditional v-pet a bit more.
