Another quicky gone slow.
And I wanted to do something a bit more realistic. But it sucked so I made it look more anime-ish (as usual). Oh well, one step at a time. Maybe next time. XD

This is beautiful!
I'm currently resisting the urge to go into story mode, if you know what I mean.
There are possibilities here. Maybe one day, Kalinka saved her allowance to get a portrait of herself to be done in time for her father's birthday or something. She visits an artist every day and when the portrait was almost finished, she got kidnapped by Dr. Wily's forces.
And so the portrait went unfinished for an undetermined amount of time... or something.
I can't find the words to describe this. Kalinka looks so regal sitting there. I was almost inspired to make a comic about this.

Wow, that's a beautiful and heartbreaking story.
I was actually supposed to put some blood (or some other ominous dark liquid substitute) streaks on this, to make it like some sort of a kidnap note for the poor doctor.
If not that, I would put Cossack standing beside Kalinka, with the head part torn off the pic.
But like I said, I struggled with painting and couldn't get the age right. So it just turned into a normal profile pic. That way I could make various excuses and stuff, like this is Kalinka X-years after the "incident", or something like that. XD
Anyway, thanks! I'll probably be making other versions of this in the future and see where my style/technique/luck goes.

I just had a thought. This portrait would end up in a museum in the future. Kalinka became really famous later in her life, and one day, she goes to this museum where the portrait is on display. Kalinka would probably end up a brilliant scientist or museum curator or both! She visits the museum all successful and such and reminisces of the days of her youth. She probably had some good times after that whole kidnapping thing, right?
Then, later, during MMLegends time, the portrait gets re-discovered, and it gets displayed in another museum where people can learn of Kalinka and the artist who painted the portrait, some guy by the name of "Non Visiblé." XD

Someone should make an "epilogue" for the classic series. I think it would be interesting to see what happens to the characters a few years after the main series and before the X series starts. The two series' don't need to occur right after each other right? XD

I'd think Wily eventually got either defeated or died of old age, then there is peace across the land, then many years later, X is discovered in an archaeological dig and ... you know what happens next.
This could happen 30, 50, even 100 years after the classic series.

Always felt sorry for Kalinka... kidnapped by Dr. Wily and dragged into a conflict she has nothing to do with, and knowing her father was being forced to be like a villain, all while being unable to do anything about it.
Impressive for an 8-bit game, in my opinion.
And the piece here is simply brilliant. She looks so sophisticated and ladylike.
