Spent so much time on the little details that I finally just had to force myself to stop...haha.

Why thank you! Yeah it's a pity they had to cancel it. If you'd like to enter your piece in another competition though, r/PLoungeArtCompetition is having one too - and your piece would qualify! (it doesnt have to be for that contest specifically).

I absolutely love all the details, and it's very clear that you worked hard on them! The background is really amazing. I love it. However, the perspective on Twilight and Applejack looks a bit wonky (though I'm not sure exactly how to explain it), and Dash's wings look rather large. Her front legs also look way longer than her back. Twilight's back legs are also a bit small, and her "plot" a little low. But I love the movement and composition of this piece, I really do. I look forward to seeing your work and improvement in the future!

Haha I always appreciate a fair critique! No artist can truly advance without letting others give constructive tips and pointers along the way.
I looked through your gallery a bit, and if you'd like a bit of painting advice from me, I'd say to try and paint more deliberately - that is, don't be afraid to shade with harder lines. Don't worry about blending things in until the very last stage - just focus on contrast and getting the form to look right. In fact, you can try practicing with cel-type shading first, and then smoothing that out after you get all the darks/lights/reflections you want down.
