Description
I Did this for fun one night and somehow it turned into a small project. Link from Twilight princess! I decided to go with TP because I really liked the more realistic approach Nintendo took on this game.I wanted to create a simple and elegant Legend of Zelda painting. There aren't many out there that I have seen, So I decided to take a stab at it and I hope I was able to carry out my goal.
Fan art is tricky because there are so many dedicated fans out there who like their games a certain way and scream blasphemy if they don't like it. I really hope most of you enjoy my minimalist version
Because I really liked this, I also painted Ganon and Zelda. I'll release those soon. Thanks for the comments.
NOTE: I know some of you might take issue that link is right handed on my version but some zelda games have shown link to be right handed and I'm also right handed so...

This is an incredible piece; I thought you made this with charcoal, but it's a digital piece. How you can imitate that effect on a digital program?

Thank you I used a custom charcoal brush in Photoshop to achieve this look.

Hey! I saw this on society6 but there was no option to get it on a tshirt... Any practical reason? I think it'd look good!

This is amazing. The desaturated colors make it look even cooler. Really impressive work.

Well done. Don't worry bout the nay-sayers. Each version is different and representative of the creators interpretation. I love this set and will most likely order all 3 framed.

Dude epic! and I'm pretty sure (correct me if I am mistaken) but wasn't link right handed in TP?

I think he was left handed in the gamecube version but he was right handed on the wii version. I could be wrong...

ooh also wanted to say this was my first game I ever played (on the good old N64). I fell in love with it and haven't stopped playing the series yet. You've done it some well deserved justice with this painting.

I played a link to the past but I was too young to appreciate it at the time. I also fell in love with ocarina. That's still my fave!

Oh my goodness.... what a stunning triptych! Haha, I like how you haven't really put the emphasis on his face here, but rather more of the familiar shapes, the shield, a chunk of silhouette.... sometimes it's those kinds of compositions that just have so much more character.

I really loved the art style of TP and I love the way you've done this. I think it also captures the dark sort of theme of TP. Anyway great job! ^_^

Oh wow, this is nearly perfect! I love this so much, it captures Link so well - Because he never speaks in the games, and this image has a lack of colour, it almost portrays that lack very well. I love the angle, the detail on the Hylian Shield is amazing. I'm not sure why but I'm quite fond of that angular nose. The only only only thing i would suggest being different is perhaps the hat being a bit longer and maybe the logo being black too. Other than that, I say this picture has done LoZ justice!

The minimalist look works really well here. It fits the tone and looks every pleasing.
If you think about it, Twilight Princess was released both on Gamecube and Wii. They had to make Link right-handed for the Wii version. So, it makes sense he's be right-handed in this. So, if someone nit-picks about this, this fact can be brought up!

This is awesome! I actually think that minimalist is the best approach sometimes and it definitely works here! However, and I did see this in a previous comment as well, that's not the right shield for TP. But it's just one minor thing! ^_^ Otherwise this is fantastic!

Thanks and I'm glad that fact about the shield was pointed out. I should fix that but I probably won't have time. so let's just say it's link from another dimension.

When in doubt, alternate dimension. That is always the right answer. XD

Omg! this is amazing ^_^
...although, I noticed something and I hope you don't mind me pointing this out to you. So, in case you don't know or didn't notice at the time you were drawing, that's not TP Link's shield that's actually OOT Link's shield lol
Anyway, amazing nonetheless

I LOVE this!
Your focus on melding minimalist and realistic styles served this piece VERY well in my opinion.
Ganondorf is also one of my favorite characters of all time, especially visually, so I am really looking forward to seeing him in this similar style (though maybe without the gold hairpin things lol, I never liked those on him from Twilight Princess).
The only criticisms I can think of are quite nitpicky: one is that I'm not sure if hat is shaped or tapered quite right, and another is I think because of Ocarina of Time's style I tend to picture his face with a slightly weaker chin.
I am actually considering buying this as a print for my mother as she is a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda series as well.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I really appreciate that and yes Ganon is next and don't worry, I kept his fabulous gold pins to a minimum.
