Well, we all know Kakuzu like..."sows" for the Akatsuki, so its not such a big jump to suspect he can knit x3

Therefore, when Pein wants super-badass-uniforms, Kakuzu HAS to suggest a good cost-efficient method of getting said uniforms x3
...Unfortunately with the deaths of a million of Kakuzu's partners, and Hidan wrecking most of his cloaks, and Kakuzu taking SO long to make a cloak... making all the cloaks took over 2 years

So yes, thats the REAL reason for that timeskip x3 Akatsuki needed time to create the rest of their uniforms xD

Oh yeh...and ignore the fact that Kakuzu was a late-member to Akatsuki
