METAL STORM: The Pact of SteelSome elements are referenced and credit here: cynicalmarxist.deviantart.com/…
This is a world map illustration for my Non-canonical story of the METAL STORM: series taking place in a much-altered universe based on the METAL STORM Extended Universe ( The Dark Tales Timeline) and the METAL STORM: Chronicles timeline. This is a universe where the British Empire and Nazi Germany signed an armistice following the bloody conflicts of the Battle of Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain. Resulting in an absolute victory for the Axis powers.
The Pact of Steel timeline begins the same way as in the original timeline of the outbreak of the Second World War, however, the Soviet seaport, of Vladivostok was raided by the Imperial Japanese Naval and armed forces, ( Dark Tales timeline) however following the Soviet-Japanese Non-Aggression Pacts in 1939, the Japanese Empire did not advance to Far Eastern Russia and Mongolia. On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union invade, conquering Poland thus resulting to the sign of the German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. In June 1940, Nazi Germany occupies France, as France signed an armistice that led to the division of France (The German Occupied territory and "The Free Zone" AKA Vichy France). In Late 1940, the Battle of Dunkirk occurred, however, a much worse fate will happen to the British Army.
The Battle of Dunkirk resulted in a catastrophe shattering the British morale and benefiting the German Blitzkrieg, with this terrible defeat, this was considered to be the worse British military failure in history. The British Expeditionary Forces lost over more than 68,000 troops while more than 150,000 troops were captured by the Germans. The losses really shattered the British people as what was left was the Royal Air and Naval forces to defend England. The Battle of Britain waged as the brave Royal Air Force battles the Luftwaffe, however, for the British, the battle was becoming very bloody. Sir Winston Churchill resigns in disgrace and a vote-of-no-confidence succeeds. Edward Wood, 1st Earl of Halifax, (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_W… )becomes Prime Minister of Great Britain.
On November 21, 1940, Great Britain and Nazi Germany sign an armistice. The Commonwealth also stands down. With the capitulation of France on the 26th of June, Nazi Germany with decisive victories subdue Western Europe. This wasn't very pleasant for all the people in exile who were supporting the British cause such as the Free French and Polish governments in exile.
The armistice between the two powers alarmed the Soviet Union, the Soviet dictator, Joseph Stalin is convinced by the Soviet intelligence that Nazi Germany could easily wage a single front war against them. The General officer commander-in-chief of the Red Army, Georgy Zhukov orders his generals to formulate a strategy for a preemptive strike on Nazi Germany. Stalin sets the deadline for the attack on February 1941. The Soviet Union commenced a blockade on Nazi Germany by not selling raw material and crude oil signaling the end of their non-aggression pact. Hitler is alarmed by the drastic change in the Soviet Union's foreign policy and sets the deadline for a German attack at March 1941.
From November to January 1941, delegations from Great Britain, France, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany convene in neutral Switzerland. The Zürich Peace Conference, mediated by Benito Mussolini, decides the fate of post-War Europe and Africa, assigning former Allied territories to the victorious Axis Powers. At the Conference, it is decided:
The Zürich Peace Conference (The Pact of Steel)
- Nazi Germany will return all of the prisoners of war captured at Dunkirk to Great Britain.
- The independence of Great Britain is guaranteed, and German forces will under no circumstance occupy the British Isles or the British Empire.
- The British Empire must demobilize all its military from British territory in Africa and the Middle East.
- Great Britain must sign fifteen-year non-aggression pacts with Germany and Italy.
- Great Britain must remain neutral if Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union go to war.
- Great Britain must cede North Rhodesia and Uganda to Nazi Germany, desired as components for the resource-rich geostrategic region of Mittelafrika as originally proposed planned by the German Empire during World War I.
- Iraq is to be established as an independent German ally.
- Gibraltar and the Suez Canal are to be indefinitely demilitarized.
- The Union of South Africa must cede German West Africa
- Great Britain's colonial possessions in Asia are to be maintained, but the British must not interfere with Imperial Japan's immediate occupation of French Indo-China and the Dutch East Indies.
- All Free French Colonial possessions must be given to the Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan depending on the location.
- Great Britain must cede British Somaliland and Malta to Italy, cementing Axis control of the Mediterranean Sea.
- Great Britain must recognize the German annexations of Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
- Great Britain must recognize the Vichy Regime as the legitimate government of France.
- Great Britain recognizes the puppet-regimes of Belgium and the Netherlands as the legitimate governments.
- Great Britain is to recognize Denmark's status as a Reichsprotektorat and recognize the Quisling Regime in Norway.
- Vichy France must cede Equatorial Africa and Madagascar to Nazi Germany, Madagascar is desired as a settlement for the eventually exiled European Jewish population as per the Madagascar Plan.
- Vichy France will retain French West Africa and Algeria; both are to be demilitarized and subsequently fall under the protection of the German and Italian militaries.
- Vichy France must cede Corsica, Tunisia, and Djibouti to fascist Italy.
- Northern France is to be garrisoned by the Wehrmacht for a period of ten years, whilst Nazi Germany will have complete access to the industrial facilities there until 1950.
- Land, naval and air forces, as well as another war potential, are never to be maintained; the French State is to rely on the German Reich for defense. The right of belligerency of France is not be recognized by Great Britain or Nazi Germany.
- Belgium must cede the Congo to Nazi Germany, desired as a component for the resource-rich geostrategic region of Mittelafrika.
- Belgium and the Netherlands are to be garrisoned by the Wehrmacht for a period of two years, whilst Nazi Germany will have complete access to the industrial facilities there until 1948.
The Eastern Front (The Pact of Steel)
The Germans were convinced they would successfully formulate Operation Barbarossa, however, Operation Torpedo - The Invasion of Nazi Germany ( fictional adaption based on the Original Russian invasion of Eastern Prussia in 1914) took to effect to invade Eastern Prussia, echoing the Great War. The Soviet Union gained several victories against the German Reich, Stalin predicts that the Red Army will enter Berlin by April; however the Red Army was ill-equipped thus led by incompetence officers halted their attacks. The Battle of Königsberg resulted to a bloody stalemate.
In June 1941, German armies led by Fieldmarshall Hugo Bechstein and Erwin Rommel - augmented by the air superiority of the Luftwaffe - achieve a critical breakthrough and finally defeat the Soviet forces in Königsberg. By January 1942, the Soviet Union's offensive has been repelled and the Wehrmacht has gained the initiative.
NOTE: The leadership of Stalin's Red Army was still crippled by the Red Army Purges during the late 1930s, orchestrated by NKVD General Viktor Khruschev.
Stalin never expected Hitler to wage a two-front war, which is why Operation Barbarossa was such a shock to him. Stalin would understandably want to strike in this reality because an invasion of the Soviet Union would look MUCH more likely.
A grueling, brutal drive into the Baltics, Belarus, and Ukraine follow. Joseph Goebbels is able to rally the German people behind the campaign, painting Stalin as a war criminal and traitor to Germany's good will. In the campaign, Nazi Germany is supported by significant Italian, Hungarian, Romanian and Finnish auxiliaries.
In December 1942, the offensive - despite claiming Kiev and Minsk - descends into a bitter, grim stalemate; the power of both sides appears to have reached parity, as they become entrenched.
In January 1943, Leningrad ( Renamed to St. Petersburg)– caught in the zone of German occupation - succumbs to a prolonged Axis siege. The Eastern Front dwindles into trench warfare, as both the Wehrmacht and the Red Army fortify the lines – tank assaults have become virtually impossible. The Red Army constantly throws thousands of barely trained and poorly equipped men and women at the German lines in full-front assaults, only for them to be mowed down by Wehrmacht machine gun nests.
By February 1946, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union are exhausted but, bitterly, each side refuses to offer terms. Both have vowed a 'war of annihilation' against the other; the Germans will not stop until the 'Judeo-Bolshevik Menace' is obliterated and Lebensraum has been conquered, and the Soviets will not stop until fascism - in both Germany and Italy - has been defeated, the Soviet Union's western fringes were secure and the hammer and sickle flies over Europe.
The notorious SS now control Russia, placing many Russians and Slavic people into concentration camps for slave labor, SS-Oberst-gruppenführer Korbinian Tybalt von Wiederstein became the head kommadant of Russia while SS-Obergruppenführer Oskar Kottmann continues to have full authority over Poland.
Fleets of Luftwaffe bombers and jet fighters patrol the skies and harass the Soviet Union’s chief cities in the Caucasus, European Russia, and Siberia. However, a state of total war does not exist in Germany - instead, it exists in the dark heart of Africa...
The Holocaust in Mittelafrika
In January 1942, the Wannsee Conference was convened in Berlin; the committee decides that captured Jews are to be deported to Madagascar. In April 1945, Heinrich Himmler declared Nazi Germany's sphere of influence was completely free of Jews. By February 1946, Madagascar is an SS run police state under martial law. The 9.1 million Jews, many once professionals like doctors and professors have been reduced to cheap labor for the Nazi military industrial complex and German companies - thriving on Africa's raw materials and the pool of labor. Dissenters are imprisoned in concentration camps and public hangings are common. Honorary Brigadeführer Josef Bühler is the governor of Madagascar.
The granite and iron capital of Mittelafrika and the Nazi colonial empire, Neu Berlin (formerly Léopoldville), is the headquarters of the dreaded SS-Afrika - the callous rulers of the bloody German colonial empire. By February 1946, the commander of SS-Afrika is the ruthless Oberst-Gruppenführer Odilo Globocnik. In December 1942, the civilian administration of German Africa was disbanded - under the personal leer of Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler, the SS assumed control of the brutalized colonies. In the Deutsch-Kongo, the nerve centre of Mittleafrika, a vicious labyrinth of slave camps – particularly for the extraction of the Congolese Basin’s abundant deposits of raw materials and the production of rubber - fuel the perpetual war waged against the Soviet Union; Germany's colonial infrastructure has proven vital to sustaining the deadlock with the Soviet Union. Prior to his promotion to the commander of the SS-Afrika, Odilo Globocnik oversaw the systematic slaughter of millions of Africans in mass shootings, exterminating entire ethnic groups. German East Africa (Ostafrika) and the Kameruns have been depopulated of Africans, driven into slave labor in the Kongo or exterminated. SS-Obergruppenführer Karl-Otto Koch oversaw the utter mass genocide of the Herero and Nama people in South-West Africa.
British Intelligence (and American) is quite aware of the brutal genocide and oppression, but London will not admit it; the British fear that it could provoke the war with Nazi Germany – which would, as the British reason, only resulted in the rapid collapse of the ailing Empire. In the Kongo, poorly equipped and disorganized African, French and Belgian guerrillas sporadically harass German camps and infrastructure. The guerrilla leadership pleads for assistance, but the British Empire refuses to fund the insurgents.

individuals such as RAF Polish pilot officer, Antoni Lipinski ( METAL STORM: Chronicles: Aces in Exile) was not very pleased with the armistice, he and other Polish exiles wanted to continue their fight against the Nazis.
As for others, some saw the armistice as a good thing.
-Australian archaeologist, former WWI veteran, and RAF Pilot Officer Sir Bernard Williams II (METAL STORM: Chronicles timeline) were glad that the war between Germany and Britain was over, in 1942 he marries his sweetheart Alice Schäfer/ in London along with his family.
-Cornelius Snyder (METAL STORM: Chronicles: King of the West) with his new family headed back to the United States of America in New Braunfels, Texas, with his new family with US Army Air Force General Samuel Robert Kasemeyer, he married Samuel's daughter, Christina (Chrissy), while Samuel married his sweetheart, Valerie Hellstörm Steiner, who became his second wife and who he met during World War I.
-Cornelius's family was also impacted by the armistice, his brother-in-law, Jakob Kreuzmann AKA Jacob Warrender resided in Scotland with his wife Elise ( Cornelius's sister), his other brother-in-law, Johannes and their son Joshua.

I also imagine what if the Germans captured Caucasia to cut the oil against the soviets. What do you think of my idea?
