hey remember one of my sketch dumps oh so long ago? ( [link] )well i stole the mermaid from that, and decided to shade her!
basically just a mini shading pratice (of which i need LOTS)
light source is top right(?) corner. above the hand with the bracelet :3 (is directionally challenged)
HELPFUL AND NICE (constructive) criticism please :3
yay mermaids~ has anyone noticed how much i like to draw them?

So, constructive criticism, huh? I'll put in my two cents. :3
The shading on the right (light source side) of the hair probably should be switched. Just a bit. though, and it looks fine as is, but if you want a really obvious light source, I'd take out some of the shading around the outlines like on the poofs across from her ribs. The little dip in the middle of her upper tail might be a bit pronounced, but that's your thing. Where the fin part of her tail joining her actual tail to her waist is (assuming you're channeling Disney's mermaids) is a little too far to the left. From the angle of the upper body, the little front part where there really isn't any fin (Oh gawd this makes no sense 
Also, I love your icon.

I havent much practiced shading before, which is why the light sources is really weird. i think i switched where it was at lease once throughout the hair coloring, and definitely between when i was doing the hair and the tail and top and stuff.
and i totally get what you mean about the fin-waist-bellybutton thing!
I probably (for now at least) wont actually fix any of these, but if i have a chance to edit this anytime i'll definitely use your suggestions!

I switch my light sources half way through all the blinking time. It's a horrible habit.
