Description
The Rat

He wanted some to eat but only with
Food which could just sustain his need for
All of the goodness of the rat and pith.
On one dark day he decided to bore
a hole to the merc'less heat of the world.
It was not complete in a day, so for
a time twas sore, and what to heal? not cold.
Our rat, sigh, flawed without the heat to store
or any fat to keep his body warm,
was left alone tonight by the crone moon.
Rat tried t'keep blood up, but to alarm
as he lay cold, the sun came up to swoon.
With one big warm face, in the fastest way,
toil'd; with dark he'd not spend another day.

The Bird

The lovely birds sing and paint on the wall
But only because they have lots of paint.
So to that parakeet I gave a call
“Ho, you! Bird! That paint is odd and too quaint!”
“I shall slaughter you with my BIG BAD BEAK!
How dare you mock me and my quaint colour!
As if you were a meandering snake,
With all my might I’ll squander your valor!”
“If you had eyes to be that I do see
You would know that you are all color blind
And those hues, aghast! Now, I’d better flee—
And shelter from that big beak I shall find!”
“Mwah ha! You are mine, you insolent fool!
Hide!? I will drown you in a water's pool.

The Bug

I've a probiscus to suckle honey
from the flowers and only from flowers.
Not one could pay me amounts of money
from other things to suckle: i'd cower
Oh! I hate red, blue and green and yellow
flowers because they smell of all thats nice--
I like black--how they make my heart bellow.
it is true, white and all others entice,
But when a bug's bored with nothing to do,
it eats small bugs and rodents and all of
the stool the dung beatles left--not for you...
or i make parasite to a great dove.
I am a probiscus and not a bug;
I'll eat the man who hurts me on the rug.
