Description
The original artist (Vespaz) did a really great job and designed a very cute face for Tali which fits her character nicely; but in going to the extra effort of adding in all those veins he definitely made her more realistic and yet also somewhat less attractive than some of us would like to imagine. So I lightened her skin tone a little, added a bit more of a purple hue and greatly diminished the heavy veins and blemishes on Vespaz's original, which you can find here...[link]
I think his original was intended as a more realistic portrayal which reflects the effects that living in a suit all her life might have had on Tali's complexion as opposed to the more idealized version my edit reflects. In fact if you look at the original you might notice some very strong similarities between the complexion of Vespaz's original Tali to Vader's unmasked appearance in Return of the Jedi.
Personally, I actually prefer the original as I feel it has more character; but someone requested a more idealized version and I was in a generous mood so I banged this out.

You know what is uncanny about this is you get this render with a standard deviation of plus or minus a centimeter. Now I could only figure out from the eyes down but a search of accents that match the presented quarian one (I think its americanized russian) make me think she would have a mix of russian and american facial features and if quarians are as human as bioware makes them out to be then you can use human facial geometry to figure it out from the eyes down to the chin. However I don't think the eyes up are that do-able but then it's anyone's guess anyway.

I think he original work was better why? you might ask is because her race is sickly they are people that pretty much live in a bubble there entire lives. She isn't going to look amazingly beautiful, this make her look more human which I hate to tell you she's not.

Not that I don't absolutly Ador Tali, or that I don't love this pic, I just think that Tali must look less human. Because of the three fingers, the shape of the legs and the feet just tell me she looks more alien and less human.

I think both this and the original are epic. This is basically what I imagine when I think of Tali beneath the mask. To be honest, I don't care what they actually make her look like, but this is my favorite.
Still, why is it that when I look at this picture I think Alyx Vance from Half Life 2?

Wow, this is really a great concept. I actually think your edit may have some more realism to it. I doubt her race would be super veiny becasue they would not need a large amount of blood supply. Though the skin tone of the original is more realistic. All in all you did a great job. Thank you ver much.

I think Vespaz put the veins in the original to emphasize how pale one's skin would be if it was never exposed to sunlight.
For example one can easily see the veins through the skin of an Albino since their skin lacks melanin a skin pigment which helps protect the skin from sunburn (Africans likewise have more melanin than Caucasians which results in both a darker skin tone and a superior resistance to sunburn). Thus if an individual had no exposure to the sun at all it is likely their skin would be very pale since their skin would have no need to produce melanin.

I don't know, even with ablinos you do not see that much veinyness. And I did say the original had the skin tone more correct, though even that was not pale enough for a race that would have no exposure to the sun.

You know, that's the best face design I have seen for Tali. It's even unique looking and fits her.
Tali is propably my favorite character in Mass Effect.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I took away the essence of the character; but I do agree the original is superior as I said in the comments. I find the damaged beauty aesthetic that Vespaz used to be more realistic, more emotionally powerful, and more suited to Tali's character than my edit. I did this as a favor to a dude on the Bioware forums and I think its pretty good for an hours work; but its certainly not my best.

As nice as this is, her face seems almost to plastic in comparison to the rest of her suit, still vespa did an AMAZING job.

Honestly, the "Tali is my videogame wife" people are too hopeful. I imagine that she looks more Turian in face shape due to sharing amino acids, number of fingers, legs are similar...
Personally, I hope Shepard takes off her helmet and it's Garrus. "Can this wait abit? I'm in the middle of some Calibrations"

Maybe you're right, but I've noticed a few things suggest she has a humanoid face. First, when you view her from a certain angle, you can see the shape of her nose is similar to ours. Second, while her eyes are a bit hard to pick out, they appear to be at least somewhat almond-shaped. And thirdly, when you get her romance scene and take off her mask you can clearly hear kissing sounds. This suggests she has lips like a human.
Personally, I like the idea of more of a turian-human hybrid if that makes any sense. But if it really was the way you said it (with her face being Garrus) I'd laugh my ass off.
