For about 3 years now, we have been proud owners of a really big bunch of fancy goldfish. At first, they were just a nice thing to look at, but in time, i learned to love them like my own babies. The horrible part about regarding them in such way is the moment they die. My girl ( ) is really skillful and knowledgeable about keeping fish, but it just sometimes happens, that one of them gets sick beyond our help.And so, i have created this picture, so that all our dead babies would be forever remembered.
In memory of:
Marneus Calgar - golden oranda with cutest beauty mark on his cheek. We had him just for a day, since he was sick already at the shop. We hoped we'd save him...Claymore - chocolate oranda, who was always so motivated about eating, he'd literally jump out from water to grab the food from our fingers. It was a horrible blow for us to see him dead...Nurgle - the bigger black moor. I just loved the proportion between his fat body and relatively small tail. He was always swimming around like a boss!Mr Popo - the smaller moor. Poor thing was too small to get enough food... In the end, he just lied on his side...Malone - a tiny, lovely pearlscale baby. He was the roundest pearly i have ever seen! We have no idea what happened to him... We just found him lying down one day...Horus (the warmaster) - the only PomPom fantail we ever had. He definitely lived up to his name! We had to separate him few times, because he was fighting other babies. Dropsy got better of him...FlΓ€ckis - calico fantail. Emma always said he looked like a horse. 
He had one of the most beautiful color schemes ever! Berry, white and gold oranda - finally, our biggest loss so far and our freshest casualty. We had her for really, really long and loved her beyond measure! And the details of her passing are far too horrible for the lovely fish she was... I had to put her down in the end...Now, they are all swimming in their lovely aquarium in heaven, eating celestial pellets and dancing the goldfish dance all day long.

When I saw the artwork I was all like: "Aww, beautiful fishes! 
I really like the colors in this artwork and to see their tiny fluffy wings makes me a little melancholic, but I know they're in a better place now without pain.

Almost after each of these babies died, i wanted to make a painting for them. But it was never coming out nice or i got bored with it, because making a single fish isn't that entertaining in the end... (I hope that doesn't sound too cold 
Anyways, i finally got myself to draw this, and i put so much love into every single little goldie, as i did when they were still alive
And you know what? Since i drew this, not a single fish died! 8D

btw, I appreciated the comments about each one . . . that's one thing that makes me shy away from fish, just suddenly seeing them dead . . . is there an average lifespan, or is it mostly random

Yes, it sometimes happen. I lost my lovely shunbunkin last year (and a sweet black-turned-orange moor and a marvelous golden comet before) and I still have trouble accepting the new guys... euh, fishes (comets, a black one and a red and white one).
Your rendition is so colorful and lovely ! ^^ It's a beautiful way to keep them alive, in a way.

I use to tell myself, that if those babies didn't die, we wouldn't have some of those we got to replace them, and that we love now. It's like a circle of life, i guess

I cannot tell you how much I love this. Growing up with pet fish and constantly drawing them, writing about them, giving them personalities... I am so attached to these beautiful creatures and their adorable, always-unique ways. They still inspire in my writing today. So incredible. Thank you for creating this. It brightened my day
