For me this was a real challenge. In all the coloring that I have done this one took a mighty long time. I have been quite a fan of Michelle's style, and after reading her FAQ, i thought I could be up to the task of coloring one of her designs. As luck would have it this piece came up and immediately arrested my attention. Going to the creator's gallery, I found a wonderfully detailed style sheet to go by and it was a constant reference for me as i colored. I wanted to really force myself to the best of my ability to stay with the spirit and flavor of the style sheet, and really accentuate the rhythm and action of the linework. To me the added challenge is that there are two artists here that i really want to do good by....the creator and the artist. Its my deepest hope that should they come and view it, that I did their work and ideas justice. Its an interesting and well thought out character and I'm happy with the end result.Lines : [link]

I love your coloring style of michelles character. its a real treat to see another coloring style for sayda since I have seen misty's style all over. And even in school where one time her work was presented in the gallery (we go to school together). And although I found that she was a photoshop wizz, I am a bigger fan of darker pieces, and I must say you took this usually vibrant, colorful character and gave her a dark edge.... sweet.

I'm ...... I've drooled all over my computer desk at the coloring.. and I don't normally drool over coloring. I'm in.. pure.. AWE. *bows to* The dirty effect on the pants, the coloring of un-lined wrinkles in her pants and the under-shirt, the green-tinted-glow-highlights ((.... yeah.. I think I coulda found one word for that, but like I said, Pach's brain is broken.. )) from the sword and the pendant.. the textures of the clothing, the horns, and her wings... I'm.. just....... *stares a while more* You even colored the 'stress' in the boots 'caused by the claps, and the multi-colored shading/highlighting... like over by the sword where the shading is slightly green, and over by the crest on the boot where it looks like the back of her tail, and kind of on her pants the light reflected of the red-gem and then it hit her tail/pants.

What impresses me the most about your colouring job is the use of an alternate light source, esp. making it a green hue.
It makes the colours pop with their earth tone values and makes it really pleasing to the eye. I'm esp. impressed with how you handled the colouring on the clothing.

I can't stop coming back to look at this! There is SO much I can learn from your use of color, texture and light. Seeing images like -really- makes me want to push my color work. *bows* Please tell me you are going to make this avaliable as a print or at least a high res desktop wallpaper? *begs*

Well neither the character nor the line work is mine, so i would not feel comfortable putting it up as a print. Don't even think that is allowable anyways. Holiday time leaves me with little to no spare time here, but i can post a high res close up of some parts so you can get a better look at some of the details. Would that be helpful? Just to say how good this looks....
I thought it was preview art for World of Warcraft, or from a new AD&D book.
The lighting on her from off the sword is perfectly done, as are the shadows off her left wing.
And the ribbing on the sides of her top flow to exactly match her motion, which I usually never seen done quite right.

Ok. I don't think I've taken my eyes off of this picture since I saw it yesterday c_c;; It's just so amazingly gorgeous ;_; You colored Sayda perfectly, to the very last detail! When I noticed that you even went as far as to add the blue bits of scale on her body, I think I nearly fell out of my chair! o_o And the sword! THE SWORD! The bits of artistic addition you added, like the glow of the pattern coming off of the stone and flowing into the sword, just blew me away, as well as the addition of the design on her metal bits of her boots! The scales on the tail are just uber amazing as well, and the texture you threw on her pants is just so wonderful and dirty looking!! The background really makes the rest of the image pop with the contrasting red!! *keeps stairing in awe* You are such an amazing and talented artist, your sense of colors and texture just amaze me o_o; Thank you for sharing this with me!!! This is just way too cool! ^-^d

...you've done an incredible job maintaining the integrity of the creators' work, but have breathed a fabulous amount of life into the original line art... your palette is extremely well-planned and your choice of light sources enhances the dynamic pose, the added background is rich without being distracting, and your attention to textures is flawless...

I really don't know what to say about this. It's .. absolutely perfect. Fits her character so well. I'd say you probably did them both justice - Michelle by bringing out the fluid forms of her gorgeous lineart, and Sayda by further enhancing her creation with your own spark.
You post things like this and it makes me want to do better. I've been lacking in the art department lately, been a little unhappy with my more recent works. I think this is some much-needed inspiration to kick me in the right direction.
You should color more of Michelle's stuff. Both of your styles go really well together.
