I think this must have been Ben Bates' decision.
Someone should host a show and ask sega if they could have the characters but put their own versions in there as well.

At least you did better than that jerk Ian Flynn, keeping her cheek fur. I don't know what he was smoking when he came up with that redesign, but he needs to starts listening to the fans about unwanted redesigns than treating them like his slaves.

It does look better than the Archie drawing. Honestly I'm more of a very casual fan, but the fans going crazy over this seem silly to me since it's not an extremely huge change and the outfit looks good.

The real reason why fans are going crazy is not just the redesign, but because it happened in the worst possible way. And the change may go way beyond what you realize. Like the bumper sticker says. "If you're not OUTRAGED, you're not paying attention."
