The Japanese woman was cleaning when Ridge walked into the room. He turned and looked at himself in the mirror, fiddling with his cufflinks before smiling and walking over to the table. He frowned as he saw a white rose on the table.
"Tell me you did not get a cheap ass rose."
"They did not have the orchid."
"They didn't have it? I asked you two weeks ago to order it."
"You tell me yesterday." She turned round and walked over. "Boy, listen." She picked up the little card that came with the rose. "A symbol of humanity, the white rose also say I'm loyal and worthy of you." She read. "Hmm?" She looked back up at him and handed him the card as he picked the rose up off the table.
------------
Men were dressed as if they were in a tribe, banging on some drums with some sticks. The lighting was green and everyone was in groups, talking and laughing and swaying as the men on the stage continued.
"Double-U, T, F?!" Ridge's old girl asked as she stood in front of Ridge, holding the rose and waving it at him.
"Alright, it means I'm loyal and worthy of you."
"Go, blow, a goat! You are-"
"I' m sorry!"
"This years yellow ribbon, it was a political statement!"
Xevphera watched them fighting.
"Thank you for making me look like an insensitive bitch." The girl said before pushing the rose into his hand, turning and walking away.
Ridge noticed Xevphera watching them, who looked away awkwardly. He put the rose in his pocket and watched the girl walk away.
"I mean, does it suck so bad?" He asked as he walked over to Xevphera.
"No, its, its bad ass." Xevphera answered sarcastically before turning with a tray of drinks, rolling her eyes, and walking away.
"Did I ever congratulate you on treasurer? I probably never apologised my... A-Holien election behaviour either."
"Well, two weeks ago was the first and last time you actually spoke to me in three years, so um. No." She gave a smile.
"Sorry. On, all accounts." He smirked. Xevphera didn't take notice as she put out drinks onto the tables. "Gotta slave here all night?"
"Slaving all year." Xevphera sighed.
"Work study?"
"Yeah... I'm saving for the matchu pitchu trip."
"Ah..."
"But my shifts almost over." She was walking back round to near him.
"Just in time for the real fun." He grinned. She rolled her eyes as she placed more drink out. She scoffed.
"Yeah, right."
"She blows it off? Too cool for school?"
"Definitely not, just-"
"Not your thing?" He leaned on the table in front of him, where she had put the tray of drinks down again. He smirked at her.
"Well, that, and uh, Well, that. What can I say, I'm suds and sober style."
"A dying breed." Ridge stated with a grin.
"It's never too late to join."
"I think I already drank the cool aid."
"Always hope."
They looked at each other for a moment.
"Take a picture with me." Xevphera said.
"What?" Ridge asked.
"School newspaper."
A guy was walking behind them with a camera. Ridge coughed and turned to him, and Xevphera walked up and stood next to him.
"I want my approval before it runs." Ridge told the camera guy, before putting his arm around her. "Hold up..." He took his hand away again before pulling the rose out of the pocket and turning to her. "Something I should do..."
"I'm worthy of you." Xevphera stated.
"What?"
"Its... what white roses mean...?" Xevphera answered with a raised eyebrow. She gave a small laugh. "It's lamecore I know, and obviously not what I thought you meant."
He smiled. Then looked down at her. "No, it's, just..."
They gave an awkward smile to each other before he put his hands forward and stuck the rose carefully in the front of her dress. She smiled and turned back to the camera. He put his arm round her again, but looked back down to her instead of the camera. The camera clicked and flashed and he snapped out of it. He looked up and to the side and saw his friend.
"There you go." He muttered before walking towards his friend, not even looking at her.
"Don't be a stranger." She called after him and continued with her drinks.
"Err, what's with her?" His friend asked.
"Pretty mad."
"Ah, you got a flesh-eater at your four o'clock."
"And here, we, go." Ridge stated and grinned before the two of them turned round and saw the blonde girl with the weird metal down her cheek. She gave a little smile. Her hair was back to its blonde.
"You actually bought it?" Ridge asked walking towards her with a smirk. "You bought that I'd hook up with you?" He pulled a girls shoulder so that she wasn't in the way. "The tattoo covered, self rakenskank? Who publically humiliated me and almost cost me the election? No dice sunshine."
Everyone was watching now. He gave a grin.
"But hey, you can always buy a ticket. Or, here's a secret. Sometimes they let you in just because you're eye candy." He turned to the people at the front desk. "Is she eye candy?"
The guy looked slightly awkward. "Rules are, she needs a ticket..."
"Ah, k, caracara, banished for, sucks to be an ugly cow."
"I only came to give you a second chance."
"Guess I blew it." He began to turn away with a smug look.
"I guess so, but Ridge?"
"Mmhmm?" He turned on his heel and faced her again.
"Best, embrace, the suck." She said, her words seemed to echo around the room in whispers.
He suddenly felt quite uneasy, and looked deep into her eyes, as they watched him. He watched her for a moment before turning, feeling dizzy. She smiled to herself as she watched him go.
Everyone was dancing as he tried to walk through the crowd, a girl stopped him and danced. He watched her for a moment before gripping his head, everything seemed to be going slower and slower and some people that he looked at appeared to look just like the girl with the metal.
"Relax, Ridge, I already forgave you, come on." His old girl said. "God, you are sweating like a pig..."
He looked around, tripping out lightly and seeing the metal girl in random places around the room.
"Come on..." The other girl said.
"What does she want from me...?" He muttered.
"What?"
He continued to see her, her deep stare from before and her smirking lips.
"I gotta go..." Ridge stated before barging through the crowd. He burst out of the door and onto the busy street. He looked at the man that was standing there, he appeared to have black tattoos covering his face. Ridge shook his head and turned away, swaying slightly as he walked. The dizziness getting worse as bright lights that weren't there flashed in front of him. He saw a woman who's face changed to that of the girl, then back again. He turned away, scared, and continued walking, swaying. He almost walked into a car as it beeped its horn at him. Next thing he knew, he fell against the side of an elevator wall, the button beeping. He gripped his head and his breath came out as gasps.
4...5... the elevator buttons dinged, but his vision was swaying and his head was pounding. The elevator dinged and he walked out, stumbled forward to the balcony and looked down, over the busy and illuminated street bellow.
"How are you feeling, Ridge?"
He turned to see the girl, her hair was now white and trailing down, her dress was a light blue and she wore a smirk on her lips.
"Lomadia?! What are, what are you doing here?!"
She walked forward as whispering circled round and her voice echoed.
"I'm here for everyone who missed the beauty boat."
"What?" Ridge asked, shaking his head.
"And all the tattooed self mutilated taten frankenskanks-"
"It was a joke." Ridge panted, regaining control of his head.
"I didn't get it." Lomadia shook her head. "But pretty soon, you will."
"W...what?"
"You have a year to find someone to love you." She took his wrist.
"Huh?"
"Before all the flowers on the tree have died..."
He gripped his wrist as a black marking of a tree formed itself like a tattoo up his forearm, five little flowers mixed amongst the leaves.
"Once spring flowers bloom again, the year is up."
The flowers disappeared.
"What the...?!"
"And only the words 'I love you' will release you from the spell."
He looked up to Lomadia, who was smiling, then she whispered... "Or stay like this forever..."
"Like what?!"
She turned and took a step back, now Ridge could see himself in the sliding mirror door. His head was bald, tattoos were strewn across his face and metal pieces were dotted around. Parts of his face were scared with metal running down at intervals.
"No..." He stepped forward and looked into the mirror, to the metal that ran down his nose like it was a thorn bush, to the imprints in his skin and the scars on his cheeks. To his bald head that bore the same marks and his scared pale blue eyes. His ear had a metal bar going through it and across his left cheek and down his neck was a bold black tattoo pattern, like thorns.
"No... No..."
"As aggressively unattractive outside as you are inside."
"Wait!" Ridge turned to her, but she wasn't there. She was gone.
"You have a year to find someone to love you..." He voice whispered and echoed around. He took of his shirt and looked down to his scarred and tattooed body. The metal pieces and thorn tattoos, the red scars and white markings.
"Or stay like this forever..."
