Rythian walked over to Xephos and the strange device."Ok I think if you put the pickaxe on this compartment." the spaceman pulled a cover off of the stomach-ish area of the device. "You should be able to put your hand to the machine here." he placed his hand on a hand shaped dip in the machines shoulder area. "And enhance your magical power so that it'll enchante to picks better." he look up at the mage, who raised an eyebrow. "I don't know how it works." Xephos admitted and stood to one side to let the mage try it out.
"Why is this hand mould so long??"
"That's moulded around my hand... I probably should have asked you to mould it around yours instead."
"Should work fine." and with that the mages hand glowed slightly pink, the air around the device rippling with a slight purple and pink glow. Rythian closed his eyes, the power seemed to be straining him.
The pickaxe glowed with the same type of ripple and the mage pulled his hand away.

"Ah, fffff." he exclaimed and his hand appeared to be slightly burnt.
"Sorry Rythian, I didn't think it would do that."
The mage shook his head.
"It's fine" he stated.
"Why dont you run it under cold wate-" the spaceman stopped midsentance as he remembered that the mage was half enderman. "Shit, sorry."
"Again, it's fine. Plus I can be around and touch water, as long as i'm not submerged for too long."

The spaceman nodded before pulling the pickaxe out of the contraption. The main metal part still glew purple. It was slightly enchanted.
"What enchantment did you put on it?" he swung it through the air, it felt light and it was very usable.
"I tried unbreaking three, but I think I only managed to add unbreaking one." the mage answered.
"I think that we should only try to add one level at a time, we don't want you to hurt yourself."
"Thanks."
"Come on lets eat."

They had ate the rabbit soup, not the best but Ridge only had certain ingrediants to work with and that was salt water, rabbit, berries and a type of mahogany tree saplings you could eat. Still it was edable and filling and that's all that mattered.
They decided to have one person keep watch for a night and rotate around the group for the rest of the time they were here. Xephos offered to stay awake that night, but Ridge told him that a leader needed rest, and took the job of watcher instead when the spaceman had fallen asleep accidently, his head resting against one of the logs.

------------

The next day they had thier jobs assigned, today Rythian would work on enchanting all of the weapons and tools Xephos brought back to the camp.
Ridge would be incharge of cutting wood and getting saplings today, after arguing with Sjin about it.
Sjin would be incharge of collecting food, he would also be the cook for the day.
Xephos was going to explore and find some more flint and gold, as to make weapons and tools and maybe upgrade the machine a bit more.

A pick dropped down heavily from in the air and struck the big rock, breaking it in half. The spaceman kneeled down and pushed the rocks apart, finding two more golden nuggets from the inside.
"4 golden nuggets in as many hours." he sighed.
A strange noise, sort of like a churping mix with gargling came from over the other side of the rock. Xephos sat stiff, he slowly crained his neck slightly to see what was going on. A strange bird type creature with very long legs stood about 10-15 feet away from him. As it turned he saw that it's body was no more than a giant eyeball with a beak. He raised an eyebrow.
At first he was a bit worried when the bird made its way over to him, but fount himself smiling as the bird pushed its eyeball... head... Body thing against the spacemans hand. He stroked it on the top of its head.
"Hi." he said and the bird chirruped.
It was about a foot higher than him when it stood up streight.

The curious spaceman walked around to the other side of the rock, watched by the bird all the while.
He grinned as the bird raised its tiny wings into the air.
"Now where did you come from?" he asked and the bird stepped back slightly.
The spaceman did the same, but saw that the bird got angry. Looking down at his feet he saw a rather large nest with about three eggs inside.
Dread hit him and so did the birds beak, taking a rather large chunk out of the spacemans arm. "Ah!" he said, putting his hand to the now bleeding wound. The bird continued to squark and raised one of its legs to the spaceman, threatening to scratch him as it lifted itself off the floor. The spaceman jumped over the rock as the bird swung for him again, missing him by an inch.
He ran back towards the camp, the bird at his heel.

------------

"Wonder where Xeph is." Ridge mused, he was sat next to Sjin, who was preparing the nights dinner.
"Aren't you suppost to be collecting wood?"
The reaper pointed behind him with his thumb, showing the architect a large pile of wooden planks.
the architect sighed "I guess to ask you to cut it the way I suggested was too much hastle. Oh well."
"Did you hear me?"
"Hmmm?"
"I wonder where Xeph is."

"Rythian!" the shout had come from near the trees, they all turned to see the spaceman running towards them, he seemed to be clinging his arm and was followed by a large bird type creature that kept trying to peck at his brunnete hair.
"What the hell's he doing?" the reaper asked.
"Pickaxe!" the spaceman shouted as he neared the camp. The mage looked down to the newly enchanted pickaxe that was in his grip. He threw it to the spaceman, who caught it and turned to the bird, swiping the pick across its massive eyeball body, tearing into it and cutting it in half.
The birds screeching body exploded into a mix of dust and a strange goo, that sprayed the spaceman and burnt his skin.

The others rushed over to him. "Ah, fucking hell this burns!" he shouted as the others attempted to remove the goo. Finally Ridge ran over to the sea with one of the bowls and rushed back over to the spaceman having filled it up with water.
He poured it over the spacemans head and the goo dissapeared into steam.

Just as he was about to thank the group, his arm felt very hot. Looking down he noticed that his wound was surrounded by red/green skin, had it got infected? Or was the bird poisonous? Without having time to think his body shut down and he fell to his knees.

------------

He woke up to find that he was lying on the floor, his head resting against a log and the reaper dabbing a ripped peice of wet cloth on his wound.

He sat up causing the reaper to look at him.

You don't look too good. But better than before. The venoum of that creature had spread to a main artery, causing your heart and brain to go into hybernation, I can only assume this is to slow the poison from actually reaching your main organs. You're lucky your body is different to normal humans."

He looked to the smirking reaper. His arm was almost back to normal, the redness had gone and all that remained was an open wound, being dabbed by the cloth the reaper held which in turn had a bright green patch on it.

Around the top of his arm was a very tight peice of cloth, probably wrapped around to keep his body from loosing too much blood.
"You seem quiet."
The spaceman looked up at the reaper. He wipped his cheek. "Are you crying?"
Xephos shook his head. "No."
"As I said, you're being very quiet for a curious person, i'd have thought you would have had more questions about either your bodies anatomy or the creature that attacked wet." the reaper seemed to ignore the spacemans tears.
But when he didn't get an answer, he looked up at the spaceman, who was looking down at the floor.

"Alright Xeph, what's up?"
"I shouldn't be incharge." the reaper sat up streight and shuffled slightly on his log.
"Why not?"
"Because, what if that had been someone else? You just said if my body was like a normal humans I would be dead by now! It's my curiousity that got me into this mess, and I don't want that to happen to anyone else" the spaceman wipped his eyes.

"Xeph, huh, i'm going to tell you something that I hadn't planned to tell you. When I was inspecting you, I saw that your body, if you gained a few stone, would be just as powerful, if not more powerful than mine. In that sence you'd be able to handle more reaper power than I am. If not the same."
Sjin walked up next to Ridge "We're loosing a lot of wood in making these wooden pots just to prepare the food and burn them when we try and cook anything. Can you help me make a metal one?" the reaper nodded and handed the spaceman the wet cloth, leaving him to his thoughts.
