Light shone over Arrendelle that night, as the stars beamed down at the castle and the village that sat between a mountain and a river. They shone through the princess's window that night, the lights, glowing different pastel colours as they rippled through the sky. A little blonde girl lay in her bed, attempting to get to sleep, when all of a sudden,
"Exza!" A whisper came from the side of her bed, as an even smaller girl popped her head up over the side, being too small for it. "Psst!" She placed her foot up on the bed and climbed up, sitting atop her sister. "Exza!" she whispered again. She had light brown hair and blue eyes, like her sisters. "Wake up, wake up, wake up!" She shook her sister, who moaned.
"Chesh, go back to sleep!" the blonde girl said.
Chesh sighed and flipped over, lying on her back on top of her sister. "I cant! The skies awake! So IM awake! o we have to play!" She stated, moving her arms around in a dramatic fashion. Exza smirked.
"Go play by yourself!" She said, pushing her sister off and curling back up.
Chesh landed on the floor with a little thud and frowned, before gasping, an idea springing to her mind. he quickly jumped back up, lifting up her sisters eyelid. "Do you wanna build a snowman?" she asked. Her sister opened her eyes and smirked.
------------
Chesh was pulling Exza down the stairs, excited. "Come on, come on, come on, come on!" She called. All the while Exza was trying to shush her. They ran into the big ballroom, giggling and laughing and quickly shutting the door. Chesh pulled Exza into the middle of the room as they both laughed. "Do the magic! Do the magic!" She said, and watched as her sister moved her hands around, conjuring snowflakes around in her grip. Chesh gasped and watched happily.
"Ready?" Exza asked. Chesh nodded and Exza threw her hands upwards, sending the blue magic into the ceiling and sending it down in little blue snowflakes.
"This is amazing!" Chesh shouted and laughed as she jumped about, catching the snowflakes.
"Watch this!" Exza said, and stamped her foot down, the floor turned to ice and Chesh giggled ass she began to slowly slide away.
------------
Chesh quickly tried to walk over, holding a pile of snow in her arms, she dropped it onto a slightly smaller pile of snow and giggled as Exza laughed at her.
------------
Exza was finishing off what she was doing while Chesh sat and pulled funny faces at her. Exza turned the finished snowman round to face her, moving his arms and speaking to her sister using a different voice. "Hi, im Xephos. And I like warm hugs!"
Chesh jumped up and down happily. "I love you Xephos!" she ran over and hugged him.
------------
Chesh danced around with Xephos as Exza pushed them with a stream of ice and snow as they laughed.
------------
Chesh sat on Exza's lap as they slid down a slope of snow. "Big bump!" Chesh said, and jumped at the end, landing in a pile of soft snow and popping out again, giggling. She jumped forward.
"Hang on!" Exza called happily and cast her magic, making a platform underneath where Chesh was jumping. And again, and again.
"Catch me!" Chesh called.
"Got ya!"
"Again!"
Pretty soon Chesh was moving too fast and was too high for Exza to keep up she began to panic.
"Wait!" She called. "Slow down!" She suddenly slipped on the ice, falling onto her back as Chesh jumped. "Chesh!" She flung her hand forward, and a shard of magic ran rom it, straight to Chesh, hitting the side of her face. She fell into a pile of snow and rolled down onto the floor, passed out as Exza gasped. She quickly ran over, kneeling down next to her sister. "Chesh!" A strand of her sisters hair turned white like her own, and as her sisters eyes closed, she noticed one was lilac instead of blue. "MOMMA, PAPPA!" Exza shouted, scared and crying for her sister. The ice around her grew thicker and the walls covered more, the spread across the floor caused the snowman to fall apart and some bits cracked. "You're ok Chesh... I got you..." Exza sniffled. There was a bang at the door as her parents tried to push them open, the ice around them being thick.
"Exza what have you done?!" Her father asked as they ran in and to them, careful about the ice. "This is getting out of hand!"
"It was an accident!" Exza answered. "Im sorry Chesh..." She said, hugging her sister. Her mum picked Chesh up and gasped.
"She's ice cold!" She stated.
"I know where we have to go." The king stated.
------------
He searched through his shelves, picking out a specific book with olden writing on it, a map fell out and opened up on the floor.
------------
They set off, on their horses, a trail of ice and snowflakes behind Exza's.
------------
The little boy and Sphen were wondering across a grassy path on their little sleigh, still carrying the one block of ice they had gotten. That was when the horses had roared past, sending the grass into motion and still leaving the trail.
"Ice?" the boy asked, and smiled to his reindeer friend. A few seconds alter he was riding on his friend, down the slope where the horses had left the trail. "Faster Sphen!" The reindeer mood and ran forward, stopping off at some mossy rocks when noticing the horses had stopped and the people had gotten off. "Sphen!" The kid whispered and his friend came and stood with him, hiding behind the rocks as they watched what was happening.
"Please! Help!" The king called from the centre of a clearing. "Its... my daughter!" At that moment, all of the rocks around sprung to action, rolling towards the family in front of them. The boy gasped as he watched.
The rocks unfolded to reveal little rock people, the moss was their clothes and around their necks they bore little glowing crystals.
"Its the king!" One of them exclaimed, and the others all gasped.
"Trolls?!" The little boy asked, then, suddenly the rock in front of him unfolded into another one.
"Shush!" She said, before grabbing his hand and pulling him and Sphen closer. "Im trying to listen!" Sphen licked her and she smiled, putting a hand on each of their cheeks. "Cuties. Im gonna keep you!"
Meanwhile, the king knelt down next to Exza as the oldest and wisest of the trolls stepped forward. "Your majesty..." He took Exza's hand. "Born witht he powers, or cursed?"
"Uh, born. A-and they're getting stronger." The king answered. The troll moved closer to the queen.
"Here, here." He said and the queen lowered Chesh down towards him. The troll put a hand on the girls head. "You are lucky it wasn't her heart. The heart is not so easily changed. But, the head can be persuaded."
"Do what you must." The king said.
The troll nodded and placed his hand on the girls head once more. "I recommend we remove all magic." He pulled his hand up, and images showed of Exza and Chesh playing on their sleighs in the snow. "Even memories of magic." He moved his hand and the ballroom where they were playing changed to a snowy environment outside, Then another image came up, of them ice skating through the ballroom. "To be safe." He moved his hand again and the ballroom turned to a frozen lake. "But don't worry." Another image came up of the snowman and them sat watching it in the ballroom. He moved his hand again, and once more it turned to an outside image. "I leave the fun." He pulled his hands together, collecting the magic once more and placing his hand back onto Chesh's head. "She will be ok."
"But she wont remember I have powers?" Exza asked.
"Its for the best." The king stated, putting a hand on his daughters shoulder.
"Listen to me, Exza." The troll said, he turned. "Your power, will only grow." He raised his hands up to the sky and silhouettes shone in blue. "There is beauty in it." The image showed a woman stood in the middle of a crowd, moving her hands and sending small shoots of ice and snow upwards. A giant snowflake flew upwards. "But also, great danger." The snowflake became bright red, like fire, and Exza gasped. "You must learn to control it." They looked back down to the silhouettes, the woman cried as the others turned red, attacking her, and causing the lights to go out in a puff of smoke. Exza gasped once more and hugged her father.
"No." The king said. "We'll protect her." He stated, hugging his wife and his daughter. "She can learn to control it, im sure. Till then... we'll lock the gates..."
------------
The gates were closed and locked to the castle.
------------
"We'll reduce the staff."
------------
One of the staff members closed a window and shutters, sending the room darker.
------------
"We will lower her contact with people."
------------
Another member of staff closed a large balcony door, shutting out more light. Exza's bed was moved from the room she shared with Chesh, and the younger sister sat alone.
------------
"And keep her powers hidden from everyone."
------------
Chesh ran from her room and looked sadly at Exza as her sister walked into her new room, and closed the door without saying a word.
------------
"Include Chesh."
------------
Chesh looked out the window, it was snowing outside. She gasped in excitement and ran to her sisters room.
"Exza?" She knocked in a merry tone. "~Do you wanna build a snowman? Come on let's go and play!" She put her back against the door and slid down. "I never see you anymore, come out the door, it's like you've gone away!" She looked under the door frame and then stood up. She sat in the ballroom, holding two dolls, one of her and one of Exza. "We used to be best buddies... And now we're not..." She frowned. "I wish you would tell me why!" She let herself fall back. She looked through the keyhole. "Do you wanna build a snowman?" She put her mouth to the hole. "It doesn't have to be a snowman!~"
"Go away Chesh..."
"~Ok Bye...~" She walked away sadly.
------------
Exza looked out the window, smiling to herself, she placed her hands against the ledge. And then, ice covered the entire windowsill. She gasped and pulled them away.
------------
"The gloves will help." He father told her, placing some small white gloves over her hands. "See? Conceal it." He placed his hand over hers.
"Don't feel it." Exza answered.
"Don't let it show." They both said together and smiled.
------------
It was a few years later now, and Chesh happily laughed as she ran up to Exza's door, knocking on it rhythmically.
"~Do you wanna build a snowman?" She grabbed her bike and jumped on top of it, riding it towards the stairs and jumping off when it began to go down. "Or ride our bike around the hall?" She sat in the arms of one of the suits of armour, and layed back dramatically. "I think some company is overdue, I've started talking to, the pictures on the walls!~" She flipped over one of the couched and landed on her back, pointing up at a picture. "Hang in there Joan." She now sat in the lounge, looking up at the grandfather clock. "~It gets a little lonely, all these empty rooms, just watching the hours tick by!~" She placed her feet on the grandfather clock and ticked along to it.
------------
Exza was pacing in the corner of her room, snow surrounded her and ice grew up the walls. "Im scared!" she said, putting her hands forward. "Its getting stronger!"
"Getting upset only makes it worse! Calm down." The king said, and went to hug her. She pulled back.
"No! Don't touch me! Please... I don't wanna hurt you..."
------------
Chesh slid past Exza's room, she turned and lifted her hand slightly, thinking of knocking. Then sighed and continued walking. She ran into her mum and dad's room, smiling. She hugged them, they were packing for a journey. "See you in two weeks!" she said, and they hugged back.
------------
Exza bowed to them as they came down the stairs, their suitcases next to them as the staff began packing them into the carriage. She looked up sadly. "Do you have to go...?" She asked, a whimper in her voice. They smiled at her.
"You'll be fine, Exza." The king stated.
------------
They docked the boat, that night, it was getting rocked and shaken by storms. A large wave crashed upwards, a the ship unsteadily tilted from side to side, threatening to fall into the icy water below. Then, came the flash of lightning, and the huge wave engulfed them, it was the end...
------------
The portrait of them that was hanging in the long corridor, now had a black drape across it. The staff bowed their heads in sorrow. And on the foggy mountain next to the castle, two tombs stood as everyone watched.
------------
Chesh walked slowly down the hall, which now seemed so empty. She hung her head as she walked, feeling tears in her eyes. She walked over to Exza's room, and knocked before placing her hand against the door. "Exza... ~Please, I know you're in there... People are asking where you've been... They say have courage, and im trying to... Im right out here for you... Just let me in..." She leant against the door and slid down it, her back against it. "We only have each other... Its just you and me... What are we gonna do?" She placed her head back against the door, letting her tears flow down her cheeks. "Do you wanna build a snowman...?~" She asked, choking up on her words.
Exza sat on the other side of the door, crying as well. Her room was surrounded and covered in ice and snow and frost. She hugged her legs and curled up, crying as small snowflakes slowly drifted around her.
