Description
She ran from the room, down the corridor. Cluttering came from behind her but she didn't look, just jumped from the window, landing in a heap on the fire escape. She looked up to see them running towards the window, leaping up she ran and jumped from the edge of the fire escape, just managing to cling to the edge of the building next to the one she had previously been in. He scrambled up and turned, smirking at the men who stood, confused as to what to do, on the fire escape. She bowed to them before turning and running across the rooftops before they could find a way up.She could hear the sirens in the background, cars chasing down the street. But they wouldn't catch her. They never did.
She kept running until she made it to one of her little hidey holes and slid inside. It was a small little hut atop a broken down building. Just simple wooden planks with a cloth thrown across the top. Pigeons liked to crowd around and she threw some old bread out for them, hearing them cooing.
She sighed and rested her head back, suddenly realising how tired she was. Opening her back, she pulled out the small safe she had collected from the building. She shook it a tiny bit, before looking at the front.
"Twisty system..." She told the pigeon that landed next to her on a crate. "Shouldn't take too long, harder to open than a lock and key though..." She sighed and looked at the sides of the door. "Unless..." She pulled out a small pokey metal stick and a flat plastic card. He slid the card in between the door and pushed it to one side, slotting the metal stick in between and twisting down.
The safe clicked and opened. "And bingo was his name-o." She smirked, opening it. She lifted out the little crystal. "Jackpot. Just what I was looking for." She turned it round in her hands and smiled. "Good days work after all..." Settling down into the corner, she placed the crystal in her own safe keeping place, and wrapped a blanket around her shoulders, falling to sleep.
------------
She awoke a couple hours later, time to get moving. She'd come back here in a couple days. But for now she had to stay out of the vicinity of the place she just robbed.
There was a knock.
"I'm guessing that wasn't you." She asked the pigeon, whispering in case.
She pulled a small piece of wood from the top of the hut, jumping up onto the other crate and looking down at the person.
They wore a black suit and was leaning against one of the wooden planks. She sighed, no police that was good.
"Good morning Exza, don't suppose you'd be wanting to come say hello?" The voice came.
She jumped down from the crate, pulling a cider from the mini fridge and sliding the sheet of cloth across, resting against the inside of her hut.
"You're up early." She nodded, folding her arms and sipping the drink.
"And you're drinking early." He stated. His hair was chestnut coloured, aquamarine on top. She didn't feel like she would get along with this new person. Too prim and proper for her liking.
"Sorry but do I know you? Did I steal from you at some point?" She stated sarcastically, sighing and turning back into her hut.
"No. But I know you." The man answered.
"You seem pleased with being able to say that line. How long you been planning that?" She smirked, throwing things into her bag, leg pouch and inner pockets. "I'd love to stay and chat but I gotta go." She stepped from the hut and started walking away across the rooftop.
"Your name is Exza Reckless. You don't have any family, you were thrown out of school, college, uni, so you decided to pay for things a different way. You do a robin hood. Take from the rich and give to the poor. Or, at least, that's how it used to be."
She turned to look at him over her shoulder.
"Because now you've realised you're the poor one and in order to do your good deads you have to keep yourself alive." He continued and she turned to face him, gripping the straps of her bag tighter. "You've been into hospital quite a few times but always left before they could actually help you, and you've just been running for your entire life."
"Who are you exactly?" She asked.
"I'm called Ridgedog. And I'm in need of your assistance. Now if you'd like to follow me?" He put his hand to one side.
"Why me? How do you know I'm not just gonna run off like I usually do?" She stepped closer, her confident frame belittled by the amount this man knew about her.
"Because here, you'll be protected." Ridgedog smiled. "Care to follow me?"
"Who do you work for?" She asked. Folding her arms.
"I'll explain everything. But do you want to risk staying here without my protection and getting caught for what you last stole?"
She glared slightly, but sighed. "Is there a warm bed...?"
Ridgedog smirked. "The comfyest of warm beds." He put his hand back out to one side.
"Should I pack my stuff...?"
"No need, you can come collect it from your different bases around the multiple cities." Ridgedog smiled. Warmer than he had this entire time.
She sighed and looked at him for a moment, folding her arms.
------------
"Exza, welcome, to the facility." He smirked.
"What is this place?" She asked, looking down the corridor to the 'facility'.
"A place for people like you. A place for outcasts. Misfits. People with no where else to go." Ridgedog answered. "We give you missions, jobs to do to keep you entertained, and in return for doing those jobs you get a bed, food, games, friends. Basically a second family."
"And why do you want me?"
"Because you're the best of the best. Like everyone here. You don't just steal, you're good at free running, sneaking, escaping. You have the initiative and the natural sense of where to go, what to do. Like a second nature." Ridgedog smiled as they continued down the corridor.
"So... Who else is here?" She asked as he lead her into a room labeled 'holding room'
"A lot of people, quite a few are out refilling the drinks cabinet. Bakura over here thought it would be a good idea to throw a party last night." Ridgedog answered, pointing his thumb dismissively towards one of the sofas, where a lanky, white haired guy sat. He nodded, taking a drag of a cigarette and looking back down at his phone.
"This is Bakura, I'll call an announcement." He turned and went to the wall, clucking a button and ordering everyone to come to the holding room. He came back over. "This is the holding room, it's where the smokers of the group can come, there's a foosball table, some games like taffle, quite simple to learn. Our resident Viking will show you how to play."
A bunch of people came through the door and bimbled around, sitting around and looking at Ridgedog.
"What's up Ridge?" A tall black haired teenager asked.
"This is our new resident. Exza. I want you all to introduce yourselves and make her feel welcome." Ridgedog answered.
"Welcome? Mate I'm used to sleeping on the roofs of buildings in shacks." Exza smirked and went and sat on a bar stool that was next to the foosball table.
A couple people chuckled, she knew how to make a good first impression.
"I'm Exza, none of you have to treat me with kindness or anything, if we get along, we get along. If you don't like me, ignore me because I probably won't like you either." She smirked.
"I like this girl already." Bakura stated, smirking as well.
"Good, you should all get along. You all have a week off, so enjoy it, try not to kill each other and for fuck sake, you all live in the same building, you don't have to steal things from each other." Ridgedog sighed and nodded before walking out.
All the occupants came over and introduced themselves.
"Xephos." A tall, pointy eared man said, shaking her hand. A tail whipped around behind him.
"Markiplier." Another guy spoke, his hair was pink ontop, and two black kitty ears poked out from his hair.
"Jack." Another came up and shook her hand, his hair was green on top and one of his eyes was bright green.
Two more guys walked up next to each other. "Hey! I'm Kurt and this is Blaine, my boyfriend." They both smiled, Kurt was taller, paler. Blaine was more tanned and his hair was gelled back.
"Connor" another guy spoke, his hair was shaggy and black, and he wore a waistcoat with a gaming T-shirt underneath. "Connor Temple." He smiled.
"Matt Smith." Another guy said from over on the sofa, he wore a bowtie and had floppy hair.
"Demi." A girl said, smiling. "Nice to have another girl here." She had short black hair and looked quite confident.
"Tony Stark." A guy smirked, leaning against the pool table with some metal parts in his hands. He had a black goatee.
"Sheldon Cooper, I'm a scientist." Another man smiled. He was tall, and wore two shirts.
"Legolas." A man spoke from over at the fish tank, he was tall with long blonde hair, and held a bow.
"Yami." A tall big haired guy spoke, his voice was deep and he had a golden pyramid around his neck.
"Marik." A guy next to him said, his voice was higher in pitch and he was very tanned. He held a gold metal rod.
"Dreki." A smaller guy smirked, he had blonde hair and wore a white curtyl looking shirt.
"And finally I'm Tony." A tall teenage boy said, black hair and a cheeky smile. "There are more of us but we're not all here at the moment." He smirked.
"Right that's a lot of information and I'll try and remember it all as best I can. But for now, where's my room?" She asked.
They all looked at her and then to each other.
