It had been a year since Puuta last saw Exza, and it was snowing as she made her way up the hill where she'd first met her.
"Hmmm, I wonder if I will ever see Exza again... She's probably been one of the best things that has ever happened to me..." she said to herself as the snow got heavier. "I think ill just stay a little while, I don't wanna get sick after all..." she sat down in the cold snow. After a few minutes of looking out over Tektopia, she heard a strange noise. "Anybody there?" she asked, suddenly, she saw someone fall from above, landing in front of her on their face. "Ummm... What?! Are you ok?" she asked calmly and quietly, but inside she was panicking. The girl pushed herself up and shook herself, her long fox tail popped out of the snow and the snow dropped form her ears.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." the girl answered.
"Exza! It's you... I did think I would see you again!" Puuta stated as she smirked.
"Puuta! Hey, sorry got jumped to another place... I did try to be fast, but the king of France was a bit mad..." Exza sat up. "Well, I'm sure you didn't get too bored within a few hours... what did you do?"
"Exza... it's been a year... and I've been very lonely..." she answered with a sad smile.
"Wait... what?! Oh shit... it was a few hours for me... sorry friend..."
"It's ok..." Puuta said, but the sadness was still present in her voice.
"Let me make it up to you! Anywhere you wanna go! Space, time, I could take you to a planet..."
Puuta smiled a bit. "Surprise me." she said with a smirk.
"Great!" Exza shouted as she jumped up and grabbed puuta's arm. "Here we go!"
They appeared in a large room filled with people, they were stood at the back and Exza was facing her. The people all looked quite angry and at the front were two people, one in a dress and the other in a tux.
"Ah! so where are we?" Exza asked before seeing Puuta's worried look and turning round slowly. "Ah... hello..." she said awkwardly as she saw everyone. "Um... RUN!" Before Puuta knew it, Exza was running out the door and down the street.
"Exza! Wait for me!" Puuta shouted after her as she too ran out.
The fox tailed girl stopped half way down the long street, spinning on the spot as she looked.
"Hmmm, fancy architecture... Lots of carvings.... creamy colours... I'd say we're in France around 1700... I was kinda aiming for Britain in the war but..." She smiled to Puuta, who just stood there, she didn't really know what to say. One minute she was on her little hill in Tektopia, surrounded by snow, the next she was in France in the seventeen hundreds! It was... mind boggling to say the least.
"We're in the past bro!" Exza stated as she saw Puuta's face.
"I noticed... I'm just a bit shocked, wouldn't you be shocked if you were in the past for the first time?" She asked in a bit of an angry tone.
"...So... probably a bad time to mention that erm... the king of France is still alive and is kinda marching toward uus followed by a lot of angry guards? Hehe..." Exza stated awkwardly while looking behind Puuta, who turned round quickly.
"Oh god... I guess that you have been here before? And i think we should RUN!"
"I think it's too late..." Exza stated as she turned round, Puuta did the same and saw more soldiers behind them.
"Exza." The king said angrily.
"Hello." Exza answered, smiling.
"Oh,oh..." Puuta added.
"I see you brought an accumplice with you. Whatever you're planning it won't work. You will not overthrow my empire!" The king stated, again, angrily.
"Ah geez, not this again..." Exza answered, rubbing the back of her head.
"Exza... what did you do when you were last here?" Puuta asked.
"I didn't do anything!"
"She was in the Princes room!" The king answered.
"Little error on my part there...Let's just say we're both to blame, eh matey?"
"Cease them!"
"I think we're screwed..." Puuta stated.
"I kinda knew he was gonna say that... did you know he was gonna say that?" Exza asked, still sounding cheery just before the guards grabbed the both of them, and pretty soon they're pushed into a cell.
"Not what I remember. I'm only gonna say one thing but when I was younger my mind was met with and I'm not telling you anything more about that." Puuta said before going and sitting in the corner.
"Err... so... how have you been?" Exza asked.
"Before you came back? I was really lonely everyday I walked to the same spot and waited for an hour to see if you would come back. And so my year was."
"You waited every day for me?..."
"Yes I don't have anyone else."
"..."
"Exza, are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm always ok hehe."
Puuta smiled a bit. Exza stood up suddenly, clapping her hands together.
"So!"
"Hmm?"
"Time to get out!" Exza answered. Puuta watched as Exza survayed her surroundings, looking like she was taking everything in at once. She walked around the outside of the room and swept her hand across the edges of the door.
"How?"
"With-" She flicked the door in a differant place with every word she said. "A. bit. of. magic..." The door fell off its hinges.
"How did you do that?!" Puuta asked as she stood up.
"Well, it's not really magic... but that's a lot easier to explain.
"Okay."
"Well, come along!"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." She joined the fox tailed girl at the door and watched as she looked left and right down the corridor.
"Whelp, lets try left, I'm feeling left today."
"Then left it is."
Exza began walking left and Puuta followed closely.
"I hope there are no guard this way." She whispered, she looked around, and couldn't understand why Exza could still stand so tall and walk around so casually but purposefully. It was like she did this sort of thing every day.... well, she probably did.
"Don't worry, guards are the least threatening thing around here."
"That doesn't make me worry more at all..." Puuta said in a worried but sarcastic tone.
"Sorry, just rambling a bit."
"..."
"Rule 37, I ramble... a lot..."
"And there's another thing to remember."
"Yep."
"So..."
"So, now all we need to do is find the exit while avoiding thousands of guards and a very angry king and dangerous prince, escape through said exit, again, without getting caught, and take you back home. All in a days work!"
"Phew!" Puuta said, giving her a look as if to say 'that's a lot to do'. Exza smiled.
"Ehe... yeah, it may be a bit harder to do than to say..."
"Yeah... Exza, how many friends do you have?"
Exza stopped walking.
"..."
Puuta stopped as well. "I'm just trying to change the subject..." She stated quietly.
"Oh, no it's fine." The fox girl said with a smile.
"..." Puuta smiled back a bit and Exza turned back round, Puuta following. "You didn't answer my question..."
At that point Exza stopped and put her back against the wall, pushing Puuta back as well, there were some guards round the corner.
"Oi!" Puuta said, but stopped talking when Exza put her finger to her mouth, telling her to shush. "..."
"Ok, I'll distract them... you run into that room over there when you see my signal..." Exza whispered.
"Ok, what's the signal?"
"You wont miss it" Exza stated before running out from round the corner. "LOOK AT ME IM A DISTRACTION!" she shouted to the guards, she ran back past and winked to Puuta on her way past as the guards chased her. Puuta ran into the room as Exza continued running.
She looked around, it was a nice neat French bedroom, quiet small. The bed was one of them four poled ones with the little roof on the top. The cupboards were white and the wallpaper was a yellowy gold. But... she heard a strange noise coming form the wardrobe. She walked over and opened it. A small boy was sat there, he was crying and his eyes were pure black, he was making a rough, growling sound.
"Hello little boy, and why are you crying?" She asked calmly, even though the boy scared her.
"The monster gonna get you... the monster change in two... it will feast and then you... will... be... dead...." the little boy sang in a creepy tone as Puuta backed away slowly.
"Why did Exza say I should go in here? This boy is creeping me out, and what is he talking about? where are you Exza?" She asked quietly. Someone grabbed her arm, and she screamed.
"Shh! It's me!" Exza stated.
"Thank god it's you!"
"Oh...um..." Exza said as she saw the boy, who was now slowly walking toward them. "Run!"
"Eeeeee!" Puuta shouted as she ran away. She ran into the guards.
"Well, hi guys... now there's a slight problem here... did the king actually tell you what you're dealing with?" Exza asked quickly. The guards looked to each other then back to her. Exza jumped to the side and the kid jumped on the guards. "Run again!"
"So much running!" Puuta panted as she began running again.
"I said there would be!" Exza shouted back.
"I know!"
"So, how did you like the prince?" Exza asked as she skidded round a corner."
He was really, really creepy!"
"Yep. I warned you."
"I don't think you did! Either that or I didn't hear it!"
"Ok, maybe I didn't..."
"Hmmm."
"The point is... um...keep running!" Exza turned another corner. They both continued running. Exza pushed open some big wooden doors and ran in, Puuta followed. Exza pushed the door to as the kid clawed at it. "Phew!"
Puuta turned to see the king stood at the front of the room with his soldiers, he appeared to have stopped half way through speaking and was looking angrily toward them.
"Eeep..." Puuta said.
"Oh, hello again." Exza answered with an awkward look.
"..." Puuta looked timidly around as Exza took a few steps forward."
Oh, this isn't our cell..." The fox girl said as she looked up at the ceiling, trying to act innocent. The king just looked angry. "Looks like your sons just come out of the closet." She giggled.
"What are you doing in here?!" The king boomed.
"Running from your son!" The fox girl said purposefully, not frightened of the king at all.
"Your son is sure creepy..." Puuta stated.
"He has the grey plague." The king answered.
"Now I've never heard of that before..." Exza stated as she took a step closer.
"Help me cure him fox." The king said before snapping his fingers, the guards grabbed Puuta. "Or your accomplice gets it."
"LET ME GO!" Puuta shouted, but couldn't get free.
"I don't need a bargaining tool to make me help you!" Exza stated.
"Such a shame... I do." The king answered.
"...." Puuta watched the two.
"I'll help you."
"Excellent."
"Can you let me go now?" Puuta asked, giving a worried look.
"No."
Exza turned her head to Puuta. "Trust me Puuta?"
"O-okay I trust you Exza."
"Tell me about grey plague Kingy." Exza said as she walked toward him.

------------

They now stood next to the door, Exza was leaning against it, looking forward to the king who was talking to his men. Puuta was next to her, stood upright and looking it her.
"The king is sure a bit annoying..." Puuta whispered, causing the fox girl to turn her head to her. Exza looked back toward the king.
"Well, he's annoyed. People get annoying when they're annoyed." Exza whispered back. Puuta looked to the king and his men and then back to Exza. She sighed.
"So... We're in France, in the palace of the king." Exza said, in a way to try and bring light onto the subject and make it exciting. She had a tendency to try and do that.
"Yep, but I remain a prisoner until you've helped the king..." Puuta sighed.
"Don't worry, trust me! I'm Exza!"
"I do trust you, I'm just a bit worried..."
"Good! Being worried or scared is what drives us. As long as you're worried, you'll be fine."
Puuta smiled to the fox girl, who's attention was on the king as he marched over. Puuta stared at him.
"This plague... You said you'd never heard of it." The king stated, looking at Exza and not giving the slightest glance over to Puuta.
"Never." Exza answered.
"Then how do you expect to help?"
"Tell me what this plague is and I'll think of how I can help."
Puuta watched them both as they conversed.
"The grey plague turns its victims into mindless animals. Like wolves. They remain human in the day and transform on the night of the full moon."
"...You don't mean?"
"Hmm?" Puuta looked up at Exza.
"No..."
"The prince will transform fully tonight. I will lose my son." The king stated.
"Ok, um..." Exza said frantically as she ran her hand through her hair. Puuta stood there with no clue what to say, but, she thought to herself, maybe it's for the best to remain quiet... She didn't think that being with Exza would be so serious... or so deadly. When she'd met Exza she had been hyper and fun... now she was serious... "Ok, we have a few hours... we can do this..." Exza stated, though panic was present in her voice. "Right, I need to know when this started?"
"He's been different since last month..."
"...Ok... I'm not too sure what to do... I..." Exza said, she wounded and looked worried. Puuta looked up at her, this doesn't look good... she thought. She looked worriedly up to Exza. "Err..." Exza said, she turned and looked down at Puuta."
"There is only one way to stop a werewolf." The king stated.
"Yes, and I'm not going to use it!" Exza said back, angrily. Puuta looked from the king to Exza, a look of shock.
"If my son dies, I can assure you that your friend will."
"I'm not letting anyone die." Exza answered quietly, like she was trying to suppress her anger. Puuta looked scared, a tear rolled down her cheek. "Nobody dies tonight." Exza warned the king.
"Then help me!"
"I'm trying!"
"I don't wanna die... even if my life was nothing but bad until I met Exza..." Puuta whispered, not too sure if the fox girl could hear it or not.
"You still trust me?" Exza asked, turning her head to Puuta.
"Yes I do, but I'm really scared..." She whispered.
"Right then. You stay here!" The fox girl stated, before running out the door and closing it behind her. Puuta turned to the door and stared at it, staying still. She felt and could hear banging against the door.
"What's happening out there?!" Puuta shouted.
"Erm... Can't talk right now!" Exza shouted back.
"Ok..." Puuta said worriedly.
"AH!"
"Hmm..."
Exza ran back in and closed the door quickly. Her top was ripped and her hair messy, but she was smiling. "Wow!" She said.
"What happened?!" Puuta asked as she looked at Exza with wide eyes.
"Not a lot really." Exza answered, she smiled and stepped forward. "So! That little boy out there does in fact have the symptoms of a werewolf! This is so exciting!"
"You find weird stuff exciting." Puuta said from behind her, smirking but raising an eyebrow in disbelief.
"It's so amazing! Now, concerning the theory of werewolves." She walked forward and sat on the throne, her legs hanging over the arm. "Supposedly there's a whole ten minutes where the werewolf is hibernating just before transforming its victim. That's when we strike."
"Got it... But what are we going to do?" Puuta asked. She looked to the king, who looked angrily toward Exza for sitting on his throne.
"I told you if my son dies then-" The king started.
"Nobody is going to die today, not while I'm around." Exza stated, pushing herself up from the throne and marching over to the king. "I won't let anyone die." She looked to the side and when she looked back, looked calmer. "We're going to try and talk to him, reason with him. If he can remember who he is then the beast might not be able to take over." She said as she walked, her back turned to them, toward the throne.
"And what if it does?"
"I DONT KNOW!" Exza shouted, turning round sharply and looking angry. Se closed her eyes for a few seconds. "I only resort to killing if there's absolutely no other way. If there's no alternative. Like I said. Nobody will die tonight."
"Like Exza said, Nobody is going to die!" Puuta said as she gave the king an irritated look.
"Hold your tongue worm!" The king said.
"We have ten minutes, that's it. I will save your son." Exza stated calmly. Ten minutes can be as long as you want it to be."

------------

They were now walking down to the store room where the prince was hiding. The king was back in the throne room, and four guards were escorting them, two behind, two in front.
"I hate that king." Puuta whispered.
"Well, that's understandable." Exza answered.
"Hmm..."
"Yes?"
"..?" Puuta looked up at Exza questioningly.
"You hmmed."
"Oh... it's nothing." Puuta answered, but her expression was a little unsure.
"Are you worried?"
"Maybe a bit, but it isn't that..."
"I won't let him hurt you, I swear."
"Thank you." Puuta smiled up at Exza, who smiled back. "I hope this will work..."
"Sure It will." Exza stated, Puuta smiled. "It's time..." Exza said. Puuta nodded and watched as Exza walked into the room slowly, the boy was sat in the corner, kneeling down and breathing heavily.
"Little boy?" Puuta asked, but Exza put her hand up to her, telling her to stay where she was as she walked closer.
"Hello." She said in a friendly tone to the boy. Puuta watched her.
The boy turned around, looking scared, his skin covered in light grey hair like a wolf.
"Hey." Exza said again, kneeling down in front of him. "You ok?"
Puuta continued to watch, quite fascinated that Exza could be so calm around the boy considering he tried to rip their faces off not to long ago.
"I hurt..." the boy answered.
"Hey, it's ok... now tell me... what's happening? Friend?"
"There's something in my head..." The boy answered, fear present in his voice.
Puuta couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
"Would you mind... if I took a look?" Exza asked, she put her hands forward. The boy closed his eyes and Exza put hers on the sides of his face, closing her eyes as well. "Ooo, that's interesting... that's very interesting..."
"What do you see?" Puuta couldn't help but ask, but couldn't get an answer because at this point the boy started to growl.
"Ah, that'll be the ten minutes..." Exza stated as the boy tried to scratch at her. Exza jumped up onto her feet. "Out! Out! Everybody out!" she shouted, and ran out after them, and closed the door. Four claws shot through the wood a few seconds later. "Haha! Wow!" Exza said, a little too happy for Puuta's liking.
"What are we going to do now?!" She asked.
"Well, Ill give you three guesses..." Exza answered, her voice slightly panicked.
"Is it run by any chance?"
"Good idea!" Exza let go of the door and pushed herself and Puuta back as the confused boy ran down the corridor, transforming into what looked like a large wolf. "Haha! look how beautiful that is..." Exza stated, smiling in awe.
"I guess it's beautiful but also terrifying."
The boy had heard them and turned around, snarling.
"Ah, yes... this is when we run..." Exza stated, looking to Puuta before taking off down the corridor.
"Aaah, shit!" Puuta answered, running after her. The boy chased them.
Exza ran into the throne room, closing the door behind them.
"Did you fix it?" the king asked. There was a banging against the door. Exza had her back to the door, pushing against it and keeping it closed.
"Working on it..." she answered. Puuta remained quiet. A few seconds later the banging stopped. "Now! I know how to save your son! Well, I know useful information to use in saving your son!" She stated, walking forward towards the king.
"So how we going to help his son?" Puuta asked, curious.
"Yes, how do we stop this werewolf from keeping my son?!" The king added.
"Well, he's not a werewolf, well he is, well... he isn't." Exza stated. Puuta gave a confused look. "He's an alien."
"What?!!"
"Well, not an alien... there's an alien inside him."
"There's an... alien? Inside my son?!" The king asked.
"Yes!" Exza answered, smiling. The king looked angry. She stopped smiling.
"How's that possible?" Puuta asked.
"Well, there's a tiny, tiny, tiny alien inside his head, using his life energy to keep himself alive. Been there... about a month. He doesn't understand that he's taking over the boy, he was here on a peaceful mission and found the prince. The prince must have been kind to him, and accepted to take care of the alien, not knowing what would happen next."
Puuta looked at her.
"You're looking at me like im insane."
"Oh sorry. I should expect crazy things when I'm with you." Puuta smirked.
"Oi! It's not crazy, it's extremely rational!"
"Irrational or not, how are we going to help my son?" The king interrupted.
Puuta looked to Exza, who looked around. "I'm still working on that..."
"Don't look at me this isn't my territory." Puuta stated.
"Well, thanks..." Exza answered, turning away from them and walking away slowly, rubbing her chin with her fingers in thought. "We cant try reasoning with it, they're both scared and alone... we cant kill it... we should help it..." she clicked her fingers and turned to Puuta. "Oh! Yes!"
"Got something?" Puuta asked.
"If the creature inside the boy's from outer space, then how did it get here?"
"In some sort of spaceship?"
"EXACTLY! But where's the spaceship?"
"That's a bit harder, it could be anywhere."
"Well, it must have crashed somewhere, why else would the alien go looking for help from a friendly little boy?"
"Yeah but where?"
Exza's happy look vanished. "I... have no idea..."
"Me neither but maybe somewhere close by the castle?"
"Perhaps..."
"Hmmm... King, have you seen anything strange come from the sky like a month ago?" Puuta turned to the king.
"There was a sky shower not long back."
"Did it look like any of those crashed, if so where?"
"I don't recall. A maid did say something about the sky falling, somewhere around the second courtyard." The king spoke a little more sourly to Puuta than Exza, probably because Puuta was his captive.
"Well then, to the second courtyard!" Exza stated.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" The king asked.
"Hmm?" Puuta asked.
"My son is still out there."
"Oh... well we'll just have to be super careful then wont we?" Exza asked, a bit too cheerily. She patted the king on the shoulder before walking to the door. Puuta followed her closely, not enjoying the thought of getting mauled by a werewolf... alien... thing. Exza looked to her and nodded before slowly opening the door and sticking her head out.
"Is it clear?" Puuta asked.
"Yeah..." Exza answered, opening the door for her, but continuing looking around. "We need to be quiet..."
"Okay. You go first." Puuta whispered.
"I was sorta planning to... but thanks very much." Exza answered sarcastically. Puuta watched her as she walked down the corridor. She followed. She could see Exza's fox ears twitch as she listened out.
"Did you hear something?" She whispered. She watched as Exza sneaked a look round the corner, pulling back quickly. The almost fully turned boy was sniffing around there, he heard a noise and rand own a different corridor.
"Phew... we don't have a lot of time left..." Exza stated, sounding slightly relieved, and a bit too serious for Puuta's liking, she was used to the fox girl being quite cheery, and admittedly very angry at the king when he talked about people dying... she wondered what made Exza so angry about all of that stuff, when usually she would be laughing and happy...
"Then we need to hurry." Puuta answered, being brought out of her train of thought when she noticed Exza continue to walk down the corridor.
"Yeah, I see that!" Exza answered, she was keeping quite a quick pace.
"But we still need to be really quiet..."
"Yes..." Exza answered, continuing walking with her long and purposeful stride. Puuta continued to follow her, her legs aching slightly from trying to keep up. Exza looked down the corridor where the boy went. "The second courtyards down there..."
"Okay lets go then."
"I think he knows where the ship is..."
"Then we got a problem... and how are we going to get past him?"
"Well, with a bit of brilliance, cunning and er... well... im not sure..." Exza admitted, sounding slightly dismayed.
"Me neither." Puuta admitted, giving a sad smile.
"Ok, well then. Lets just go. But... stay back a bit... I have a plan but if it doesn't work..."
"We can get toasted."
"Just... try and stay back... it'll be fine... trust me?"
"Yeah. I will stand back."
Exza nodded and continued, the corridor lead to a balcony square around a courtyard. In the middle, the kid was circling round a batch of plants where the dirt was overturned and a little silver shiny thing was laying there. "Stay up here..." Exza told Puuta, and she made her way down the stairs to one side of the courtyard. Puuta nodded. The boy turned round fast when he heard Exza approaching. Exza put her hands up in a calming motion. "Don't worry... I know..."
The boy growled.
"I know, you just want to get back home... I know that you cant fix your spaceship... but I can..." She stated, walking closer. "Please let me help you..."
Puuta watched from the balcony. 'She can fix a spaceship... wow...' She thought to herself.
The boy grunted and growled sadly.
"I understand... I know what it's like to be alone..." Exza said, she looked up to Puuta before looking back to the boy. "I don't have any friends... im alone... even my race... they don't accept me... please just let me help you..."
Puuta thought back to when she asked her if she had any friends. 'Aww, that's sad I never thought she had it that bad. I'm going to give her a hug after this.' She thought to herself, and looked down to the fox tailed girl. The boy grunted, and Puuta saw Exza smile. 'Why is she smiling in this situation?!'
"I know... just relax... it'll be fine... I do need you to let him go though..." Exza said. The boy nodded. Puuta watched as the boy slowly turned back to normal, a small white light floating up from his mouth and landing on Exza's hand before flying into the spaceship as the boy dropped to the floor. Exza caught him carefully but quickly and picked him and the spaceship up. "Here we go..." She said as she stood up.
"That went easier than I thought it would." Puuta said as Exza walked up the stairs towards her. "That went well." She said, smiling at the fox tailed girl. Exza looked happy. "Let's get the prince back to his father."
Exza walked back the way they had come, the boy in her arms and the ship in her hand.
"Exza?"
"Hmm?"
"Is it true that... well, you said your race don't accept you...? And you do have one friend, me. And you're my only friend." She walked closer to Exza and hugged her, careful of the boy. Exza looked a bit shocked. She smiled sadly.
"It is true... I wasn't the best of citizens..." She answered.
Puuta thought of her acquaintances on Tektopia, they weren't necessarily friends, and she hadn't seen or spoken to them since she had been waiting for a year for Exza. But she understood, somewhat, why Exza wanted to help people so much. Perhaps it was... to be accepted?
"That's so sad." Puuta said, smiling sadly.
"Thanks." Exza answered, sarcastically.
"So, back in Tektopia have you ever met anyone other than myself, I have... but not so much anymore... Plus I don't really try to look for people..." Puuta asked. 'Other than you...' She thought, she didn't want Exza to know that.
"Well... I have seen other people... though, I've never really spoken to them..."
"Ok, and how did they look? ...And sorry for the weird questions."
"I know most of them, if that makes sense... I've heard them talking and stuff. There's Xephos, Honeydew and Lalna... Then Sjin and Sips... a few others as well."
"I don't know why Xephos and Honeydew's names sound familiar... Hmm..." She didn't plan on telling Exza that she knew them, that was she would know that she told a small lie about not having any friends either.
"You've probably seen them."
"Why would I have seen them, you know where I sit every day, on that lonely hill!" Puuta stated, a few tears rolled down her cheeks. They had stopped walking now. Exza watched her, calculating something. Puuta thought back to her friends... of course she had spoken to them once, but then she got carried away, waiting for this mystical girl to come and take her from her boring life... the others probably hated her!
"...Puuta..." Exza started, but at that point the throne room doors opened next to them, the king was stood there. Puuta stopped talking.
"My son..." The king said, placing a hand on his sons cheek.
"What a nice family moment..." Puuta smiled, but still had tears in her eyes. Exza handed the boy over to the king.
------------
They were stood in the throne room, Exza was leaning against the door, smiling.
"This ended well." Puuta stated, smiling from next to her.
"Nobody died." Exza answered, still looking forward, but smiling proudly.
"Oh, I wouldn't be too sure about that." The king stated, holding the spaceship.
"Don't you dare kill the alien!" Puuta shouted, worrying about what Exza would do.
"You think, im just going to help the creature that tried to kill my son?!"
"He didn't know! Please, that creature is beautiful and deserves to be with his family!" Exza shouted.
"I don't think so." The king smashed the spaceship on the floor.
"NOOOO!" Exza yelled, Puuta could tell how angry she was getting, and that made her mad. She felt something taking over her. He had hurt the alien, and worse, he had hurt her friend. He had hurt Exza. She looked as Exza dropped to her knees next to the now destroyed runes of the spaceship. Before Exza could even grow more angry and stand up, Puuta looked the king right in the eyes.
"YOU!" she yelled, marching over to the king, one of her eyes turning red as she looked like she was going to beat him up... or maybe even worse... Exza quickly jumped up and ran in the middle of them, giving Puuta a confused look.
"Puuta..."
"Say your farewells and be gone from my land." The king said.
"Not before you're dead!" Puuta shouted back, though Exza still stood between them.
"Puuta!"
Puuta looked at Exza, the hatred in her eyes. She recognised Exza... she didn't want to hurt her any more than the king had. And she knew that after all their work, if she attacked the king then she would probably be hurt back, and then Exza would be hurt more.
"Puuta please..." Exza shook her head. A bit of green returned to Puuta's eyes, and she calmed down, though she was still angry.
"What's happening, why is this... happening..." Exza asked, taking a step back slowly.
"I-it's something... that happened in my past..."
Exza shook her head again and barged past her, walking swiftly down the hall.
Puuta dropped to the floor, holding her head. Exza only just heard her whisper 'I'm sorry...'
Exza stopped for a second but then continued walking, going into the room where they first saw the boy. Puuta composed herself and waited a moment before walking slowly after her, stopping in the doorway. Exza was sat on the end of the boys bed, talking to him.
"Where'd my friend go?" The boy asked.
"Your friend fixed his ship, and he flew away, up into the sky and the stars and galaxies. He said to say thank you, because of you he could live... and he could get back to his family..." Exza answered, Puuta could hear the pain in her voice, but Exza managed to mask it with a smile.
"Thank you miss." The boy said, hugging her. Exza patted him on the head as she stood up.
"Now, you need some sleep." She walked over to the door, she seemed to have spotted Puuta even when she had her back to her. She smiled to the boy before closing it behind her and turning to Puuta. "I suppose its time to go home..."
"Its probably for the best, I will explain what happened to me... later sometime, I just don't feel its a good time to talk about it. Maybe sometime later." Puuta answered, trying to hold back some tears.
"So you actually wanna go home? I was expecting a little bit of you trying to convince me to let you stick around." Exza said, she sounded like she was joking, but Puuta could sense the anger and bitterness in her voice. "But if it's for the best..." She turned and began pacing down the corridor. Puuta wasn't really listening, she was completely lost in thought. About the accident she just had. She noticed Exza walking away, so began to follow her. Exza stopped suddenly, and Puuta walked into the back of her. Exza was clenching her fists.
"Sorry..." Puuta said quietly. Exza turned to her, looking angry.
"What are you, Puuta?" She asked, trying to sound calm.
"I'm a normal Tektopian... But... when I was small, something really, really bad happened to me. And I don't wanna talk about it at the moment, like I said before, maybe later ill tell you..."
"Maybe later..." Exza repeated, angrily and silently turned around and carried on walking.
"...Im really sorry."
Exza continued walking ahead of her. Puuta continued to follow her, keeping quiet. Exza stopped again. This time Puuta managed to stop before bumping into her. Exza turned to her. "Come on then."
"I'm coming..."
"No. That's not what I meant. I'm taking you home." She answered bluntly.
"Oh ok, im ready..." Puuta lied. She was worried that Exza would never return, from the way she sounded and looked, she probably wouldn't ever want to see her again. Exza grabbed her arm, and they were now back on the hill, it was night time now. "I think I will go home then..."
"That's probably for the best..." Exza answered, turning away and looking down the hill. Puuta walked up behind her.
"Is something bothering you?"
"...I thought you wanted to come with me..." she still sounded angry, but also sad.
"I do want to but I need to calm down a bit. And next time we do something, maybe, something a bit calmer, so maybe I don't have another accident..."
"That's as calm as it gets around me..." Exza turned to her, and gave a weak smile.
"Oh, wait a second, I think there is something you can do to help me with my accidents. Like you saw, it mostly just happens when im really angry. So when you see me stating to get angry, try to calm me down." She smiled.
Exza shook her head and sighed. "We all do... stupid things when we're angry..."
"We do, but this is different. I can't actually control it." Puuta said, giving a sad smile.
"Neither can I..." Exza answered, and though she smiled, Puuta felt she was thinking back to something. She thought back to when Exza was yelling at the king earlier and was trying to calm herself down every few seconds, but she had a feeling that wasn't what she was thinking about, whatever she was thinking about was something so much more worse.
"Maybe sometimes..." she whispered, and got a slightly annoyed look back from Exza, and she bit her lip, knowing that she shouldn't have said it. After all, she didn't even know about Exza.
"You will be able to control though..."
"Maybe sometimes..." She whispered again.
"I've seen the future you, remember?" Exza asked, giving a smile.
Puuta face-palmed. "I forgot about that, stupid me... But I think I should head back home then..."
"Don't you wanna come...?"
"Of course I wanna come, but can I have a good night's sleep first?"
Exza looked to be thinking for a moment. "I have a place you can stay..."
"You do?"
"Yeah... it's pretty cool." Exza answered, smiling.
Puuta smiled back. "I guess we can just go then."
"Great." Exza smiled, and Puuta felt stuff around her, and all of a sudden she was stood in a massive room, full of weird contraptions and gizmos.
"Woah...." Puuta said, looking around.
"I know right? Welcome, Puuta, to my own personal... lets say TARDIS. For names sake. Its not how I usually travel around, but after watching doctor who I just felt I had to make my own. And so I did, transferring some of my powers to it..." She felt some of the buttons on the console. "So... what da you think?"
"Its..."
"I would like you to say bigger on the inside, but you haven't seen the outside. But let me tell you, its not easy to get an entirely different dimension into this one in such a small place, keeping a controlled and stable rip in the universe into ours is tough."
Puuta scoffed a laugh as she continued to look around. It was different to the spaceship on doctor who, which is where Exza said she got her inspiration, but it retained some sense about it that felt as though she was in an episode of the sci-fi show.
"Now, off to bed you. Im afraid it's only hammocks, but im sure that'll be some fun for you." The fox girl folded her arms and leant against the hub. Puuta walked up and smiled at Exza as she smiled back. "It's just up them stairs and to your right. You may have to walk a bit, but I left the door open."
Puuta nodded and walked past her, up the stairs.
Once she was out of earshot, and round the corner, Exza let her smile drop, and frowned slightly.
"Who are you, Puuta...?" She asked nobody, and turned to the console, flicking different switches.
