Xephos was a curious spaceman. He would always be asking questions when he didn't understand something that his friends did. It wasn't like Lalna, who would usually be asking questions based on anatomy, for instance, Xephos' tail PR his eyes, and what happened if you did certain things to them. Instead, Xephos would just ask people to explain things, because, being from space, he didn't understand a lot of things that went on in Tektopia.
He was used to the dwarf and Scientist by now, and even Sips and Sjin, because he had realised they weren't so different. Sure, Honeydew was a little shorter, Lalna was a little weirder and the other two were just... Well, the other two.
But there was one person who always seemed to baffle him, one who he would always have to ask questions about.
Exza.
The fox tailed girl was always a question mark to everyone. Even when someone thought they were figuring her out, she would prove them wrong and do something unexpected.
Xephos would often be around her, because she was a fun person to be around, and she was always making everything into a joke. Being able to hang around her so much, he would often be asking questions, some more serious than others. She did seem to act more like herself around him, he didn't know why. But, he didn't mind.
"Exza, what's it like having fox ears instead of human ears?" He asked her once.
"Well, what does it feel like having pointed ears instead of human ears?" She asked back. And thus started the conversation about how their ears worked.
"Exza, does your tail annoy you?" He had asked another day.
"Well, does yours annoy you?" She had asked back.
"Yours is big though, mines just there..."
"Well, its warm and fluffy, so its fine." She had explained, and thus began the conversation of tails.
"Exza... Can you... Explain autism to me...?" He had asked another day, when she had been talking about a drawing she was doing and had told him that because of her autism she could see the little details in pictures that most people wouldn't focus on.
"Well... Basically..." She had begun, and thus began the conversation of autism, and how it was different for everyone who had it.
"Exza... Why do you... Refuse to eat...?" He had asked another day. At this point... She didn't answer. She looked down and just shrugged.
"I don't know..." She answered.
"I don't mean to be intrusive... I was just curious..." He said quietly, and calmly. Knowing it was a sensitive subject, and that his friend had anorexia. "Never mind... I'm sorry..." He added.
She turned back to look at him, and smiled. "Well... I can't eat savoury food anyway... So I just live off of sugar... And I burn off that sugar in less than a few seconds... So... I don't know really..." She said. And thus began the conversation of eating habits.
"Exza... Why do you... Hurt yourself...?" He had asked.
"I don't know... I just... Got angry... And upset..." She answered, he had put his arm around her and thus began the conversation of him looking after her.
"Exza... Why do you like a guy... Who can't like you back...?" He asked.
"I'm guessing you mean Chris..." She asked back. And sighed. "I don't know... He's just... Really nice to me, and I know he likes guys and nothing can happen but... I guess I always go for guys I can't get anyway..." She had answered, and he had nodded. And thus had begun the conversation of crushes.
"Exza... What do you do... If... You like someone... And don't know how to tell them...?" He had asked, looking to the floor.
"...Lomadia?" She had asked. Getting no response she awkwardly looked down. "Well... You become mates with them... If they like you back, you won't get friend zoned or anything... And... You go from there really..." She answered.
They didn't say anything after that, just sat there until the others turned up. Perhaps asking too many questions, wasn't always such a bad thing after all.
