Rythian's job was simple, but not always easy. It was his job to free the districts in the simulation that kept the cities power working. He was basically an anti-virus for the computer, going around, and getting rid of the viruses and robots that threatened to shut the city down. He was well known to the robots, and them, well known to him. His job was hard to do, and took up most of his hours every day, but he couldn't really back out. He had seen the main frames and other main systems that he could easily use against the city if he quit. So he went, and he would be 'hacked' into the mainframe every day, five days a week, and would take out the threats, find the beacons, and release the districts from any robots or trogons. The perfect anti-virus software, a human.
He wasn't alone in this job, there were other people crazy enough to offer to do this as well. There was his main team, Xephos, Lalna, Honeydew, and quite a few others. Then there was the Beta and Gamma teams. Beta team included people like Dan and Phil, Charlie and Alex. And then there was Gamma team, these people were people like Felix, Cry, Ken, and Anthony and Ian. There were separate groups, and his team was the Alpha group. They didn't all get sent to the same district, so didn't really work together, but a lot of the time, their districts would over cross, and they would help each other to take down some robots and hack into the beacons. It was a well payed job, especially considering the fact that they could only reload you a certain times a day based on your body index that week. See, the body had a certain number of points, these would help with different things, like hacking, attack, hiding and other useful things. They would also add up to 'regen' or 'respawn' points, which would be used to keep yourself in the matrix of the mainframe and be reshaped in order to take out the threats.
Of course, everyone in the job liked to do things differently. There was Dan Bull, who would use guns, but do it by sneaking up behind the robots and shooting them before they knew what was happening, then there were people like Xephos, who would go in all guns blazing and try to take out as many robots as he could as quickly as he could. Then there were the quiet ones, like himself. The ones who would sneak and stick to the shadows. There were followers, people like Markiplier, who would follow behind one robot for the entire section, killing it as soon as it turned around, but using the cover behind them to get through to the beacon. And of course, there were the more obvious people. Like Exza. The 'uncontrollable ones'. The ones who would switch their ways of dealing with the robots every time they were entered to the matrix. Exza was the main person for doing this, he had seen her running through the streets chased by a dozen robots before, watching her hack into the beacon just before they managed to kill her. Sure, she would laugh about it. But it wasn't always fun. Sure, they didn't die in real life, but it did hurt. And if the robots managed to infest a certain part of the mainframe, if one team failed in their mission, then the robots could easily kill someone like Exza, who was reckless in their actions.
Rythian had a lot of doubt that anything like that would happen... In fact it was almost 100% guaranteed that it wouldn't... but that 0 point something percent, could just have been the death of them.
