just a pic i drew in December.....i used a reference to draw a rose, but i made my own up with it
the one that i uses as a ref, was also black and white.....i wanted to try out my christmas present, and here it is!
took me 30 mins, in Prismacolors. ;3 those are colored pencils! and i drew it at about 1 in the morning xD!! <3
:3 i photographed this one ^___^ id rather cuz i dont have a scanner, and i dunno....i kinda just felt link it....anyways, those are my fingers too xD love them!

This is really cool! I'm always afraid to use colored pencils, so if I draw a rose it just looks grey.

That's okay! It doesn't hurt to experiment though. If you're afraid, you can always just get a piece of paper and try it with the intention of experimenting. That way if it doesn't turn out well, it's just practice! And if it does turn out well...well, you have a very lovely picture!
Just push yourself to try some new things, and you'll be able to do it in no time at all c:

Oh,Thanks! I have colored pencils and I have trouble shading with them. I usually cheat by smudging the pencil. It's just harder to do with colored pencils. I'll have to try it out sometime.

I drew it by myself, but I looked around at a couple of reference pictures first though...I didn't directly reference/follow though. Just looked at a few to get an idea how petals work.

this is beautifull - any tips on how you created it? you say its so simple, but i cant create anything as beautiful with coloured crayons x

The way I went about creating this piece:
I started off by lightly sketching the rose out in red prismacolor, then filled it in with layers of color-- and mixing them. I ended up pressing down really hard-- which is why it looks more solid, rather than pencil texture. Over top, I used more whites, darker reds, and some pink colors to add some finishing touches.
It really just takes practice. Prismacolors can be interesting to work with. This was the first picture I'd made with them (just to test them out). I suggest if you want to do work in prisma: just try it. Don't worry too much if it doesn't come out well the first time. Just keep at it and find what style works best for you. c:

Just add a thick coat of color when drawing with them :3 That's what I did here. You use up a nice amount of pencil though xD
