Well finally got a pheasant in the snowCommon Pheasant IUCN Red List Conservation status - Least Concern

Pheasants where once bountiful around here, now, due to hunting, you rarely see them.
You are more likely to see wild turkeys than pheasants now...nice catch.

There are a good supply around here - living next to a forest and many gamebird shoots (nothing as manic as you have over there though) means its common to see pheasants, partridge, quail, etc. A large number escape the shoots and add to the feral population so numbers are always kept up - only the Golden and Black pheasants are rare
Never seen a wild turkey - though there is a farm I pass that has a couple, up to Christmas anyway, that live in a field with some horses - must be great to see them in the wild!

Last time I saw them [link] I had my little point and shoot, so I'm really looking forward to getting some BETTER pics.
