Ch. 3: Two Become One

I pant softly as I jog and performed a few karate moves down the street. I stopped as I neared the entrance of my house. I wiped my forehead as I pumped into my father,“Ooops! Sorry father I didn’t see where I was going.”

“It’s Fine, Megumi. How was your morning routine?” He smiles.

“It was refreshing!” I happily said.

“Say Megumi, can you and Akane take Ranma with you to school today.” Father said as he sits down for breakfast.

“Sure dad-W-Wait! What? Why father?” I claimed as I finished wiping my face.

“Ranma and his father will be staying with us for a while.” He says happily as he opens up his newspaper.

“You’re not serious are you?” I raised my eyebrow. Hoping what I herd was wrong, yet father shakes his head. Signaling that he was indeed serious.

I sighed, *Why Me?*

After taking a quick bath, I changed into my blue uniform dress. While I tied my hair with my white ribbon, Kasumi calls out to me, “Megumi I made your lunch bento. Is on the table, Ok?”

I smiled at myself on the mirror since I was satisfied how I appeared, “Ooookie!” I quickly walked out my room when I noticed that Ranma walking down the hallway.

“Uhh…” Ranma was stumped as well, he didn’t expect to see me. He stared down at me not knowing if I was going yell at him or anything. I notice his reaction, which made me feel awful. I didn’t meant to hit him yesterday, but what girl would not freak out when they find a guy in the restroom?

“Ah Ranma…” I grabbed my left arm as I looked down at the floor, “Umm…I am sorry about yesterday I really am.” I rubbed my shoulder out of nervous reflex.

Ranma was shocked. *What? She is apologized to me?* Ranma scratched his head, “Its ok. I don’t blame you for reacting that way. I supposed you were shocked. It’s was our fault for not explain everything for the beginning. Everything would have been different if we did. I am sorry, I didn’t meant all that to happened yesterday.”

I was surprised to hear him apologized, I didn’t expect him to apologize back. I looked up at smiled at him, “Thank you, Ranma. Well I hope you’re ready, I’ll wait for you so we can go to school together.”  I walked down the stairs. Ranma stared at me dumfounded.
“That’s a great quality she has to become your fiancé, Ranma.” Genma speaks behind him.

Ranma was shocked to see his father behind him, “Ack! What are you talking about?”

Genma smiles, “She is courteous. She apologized to you for hitting you yesterday. Wouldn’t you think that makes an attracting characteristic for a fiancé?”

Ranma blushed, “N-No it don’t!” Ranma grabs his school bag from his father’s hand.

I am walking beside my twin, while Ranma walks on the fence. I looked up at Ranma, “Aren’t you afraid you gonna fall onto the water, Ranma.”

“Tsk! Nah, I got perfectly good balance.” He smirks to himself.

I pondered to myself as I grabbed hold of my chin, “Hmmm…What are we gonna say when our classmates sees us walking to school with Ranma, Akane?”

Akane: “We are going to be strangers.”

Ranma: “Of course.”

Akane: “Let’s get something straight. At school don’t act like you know us, okay?”

Ranma: “Who me? I can’t stand violent girls like you girls!”

*WHAT! After I apologized to him this morning.* I squeezed my fist out of anger because his comment betrayed me. Akane got furious and was about to hit him with her school bag when Genma pops out of nowhere and hits his son on the head.

Ranma yells, “Wh-What’d you do that for, Old Man?!”

Genma yells at his face, “How dare you talk to your fiancées like that!” Akane and I simply blink in confusion.“Listen, Ranma, Let me tell you something…” Ranma didn’t want to hear what his father had to say to him that he trips his father over the water.

Ranma smartass remarks, “What’s wrong, Old Man? Weren’t you gonna say somethin’…?” Genma pops out of the water as the Panda. They begin to spar.

I looked at my watch to see that we only had a few minutes left before school starts.*Agh! We don’t have time for this!* I quickly jumped in the middle of their fight while holding down at their punches with my bare hands. “ENOUGH! We don’t have time for this! We are going to be late if you both don’t stop your nonsense. Let’s go, Ranma!” I pulled on his ear.

“OW! Hey let go Will yah!?” Ranma yelled before I let go of his ear. Leaving Akane and I run fast as we can towards the school grounds. Ranma rubs his ear *Courteous girl huh? Yeah right! Pulling on my ear like if I were a little kid* Ranma picks himself up from the floor and catches up to Akane and I. “HEY! Wait for me!”

I quickly look back, “I am sorry Ranma. We can’t!”

“What? Why the heck not!?” He says as he cashes up to us.

I was about to explain our situation when Alkane announces, “MAN! I hate boys!”

Ranma looks at us weird. Knowing why she said something like that when he didn’t do anything to her when he hears a stampede of guys running from the school gate. I smirked as Akane looked at me, “You ready, Akane.” She smirks as well, and nods.

*Huh? What the.* Ranma thinks to himself noticing our smirks as he head towards the stampede of guys.

All the guys yell in a union, “Megumi and Akane Tendo! Ladies of our Youth! Please go out with one of us!”Akane quickly counter attack every guy that comes out at her. I on the other hand, evaded each blow that came at me.

Poor Ranma was confused, “What’s going on here? What is this?” He asked himself. He didn’t understand why Akane was fighting off the guys, while I was dodging every one of their attacks.

“Ranma!” Nabiki yells from the classroom window, “Stop standing on that wall! Come down and get to class!”

Ranma: “Yeah, but what about—?”

Nabiki: “They will be just fine. This happens every day! Don’t worry!”

“What? No way.” Ranma looks down from the wall he sat, and watched us as the last guy falls down unconscious.

Akane and I both panted. Akane pushes back her hair, while I adjusted my bow and said, “Honestly. Every single morning?!”

Akane grunts, “This is getting annoying. You would think that they would learned by now.” I shaked my head. I noticed at the corner of my eye, something was thrown at me, *A rose? AGH!* We looked at the rose in disgust.

“The toll of the bell at the temple of Gion shows us of the transience of it all, and the color of the blossoms on the trees demonstrates that all which prospers must someday decline.” A guy steps out behind the tree and chuckles to himself. “Such a boorish lot, truly. Evidently each of them though to date with you. On the dawn of the day they finally defeated you, that is. They should learn their limitations. Megumi Tendo, allow me the opportunity to spar with you today.” He says while pointing his wooden Katana at me.

I grunted, *Agh! Today is my turn to deal with this guy? Seriously?!* This guy fights against us on every other day between Akane and I.
Ranma jumps down from the wall, “You guys are more popular than I expected.”

Me: “Get out here, Ranma. You’ll get hurt.”

The guys speaks to Ranma as he points at him, “You, there! Aren’t you being awfully familiar with the Tendo sisters? Who are you?!”

Ranma put his hands on his pockets, “Well, I’m-” Ranma gets cut off by the guy announcing that he should be the one to properly introduce himself.

“Listen carefully, as I shall only say this once! The rising new star of the high school fencing world. I am the captain of Furinkan High School Kendo club! My peers call me the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High! Tatewaki Kuno.” He said with confidence.

Ranma was stunned, “Well, I’m, uh…I’m a guest at her, y’know, her house!”

“RANMA!” I yelled. *What the heck?!*

Kuno was furious, “A guest?! You’re staying under the same roof as the Tendo Sisters?!” He quickly attacks Ranma with his wooden Katana while Ranma dodges his attack by doing a black flip.

“I’m Ranma Saotome of the Saotome School of Anything-Goes Martial Arts! Here, hold my bag a sec, Megumi!” He throws his bag at me.

“W-WHAT!” I catch his bag, “Are you nutz, Ranma?! You can’t-”

Ranma cuts me off, “Just stay quiet with my bag while accept this guy’s challenge.” I couldn’t believe him.

*Doesn’t he know what he is getting into?! Fine! Whatever why do I care!* I pouted out of anger.

Kuno charges towards Ranma, which misses inflicting an attack on him but breaks the school wall.  “Why, you slippery little--!”

“Hey! Let me…make one thing…perfectly clear! Listen up! You gotta understand something.” Ranma continues to state as he makes Tendo run backwards. “Megumi nor Akane, mean nothing to me!” Ranma announces as he keeps dodging every of Tendo’s swings. “If you want a crazy girls like them who would rather kill you than kiss you then you are more welcome to have them!”

“How dare you speak of Akane and Megumi that way! I won’t allow it!” Tendo dashes towards Ranma.

“What!” I couldn’t believe what he said.

“Ranma! Why you Big O’ Jerk!” Akane was furious with Ranma’s comment that she quickly grabs Ranma’s bag from my hands and throws it at him.

“What the Heck Akane!?” Ranma yells before he jumps up while Tendo accidently slashes the bag instead of Ranma. At that moment while Ranma is on midair, thunder stuck and rain began to pour. Tendo takes advantage that Ranma while he is the air by swinging his katana on Ranma’s right shoulder while Ranma inflicts his fingers on Tendo’s forehead. As the rain continued to pour, a Panda comes running with a hot pot within its grasp.

*Mr. Saotome?* I ask myself as he quickly grabs Ranma and runs away. Everyone within the campus who saw the whole ordeal were stunned. “Akane, go ahead and get to class!” I said while I began to run towards where Mr. Saotome had gone.

“Wha-Wait! Megumi, where you going!?” Akane yells not knowing where I was going.

I hear Ranma speaks in his girl form, “Geesh! If only if it hadn’t rained. I would have nailed that clown!”

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." I said from the opened window.

Girl Ranma: “Whaddya mean, Akane?”

“I mean is that you should see your throat.” I said non-chantly. Ranma checks his throat and to see he had a red mark on it.

Girl Ranma: “There’s a bruise? From that? To think he didn’t touch me once! That’s not bad.”

“What were you thinking, Ranma? I warned you about him…” I sighed and continued, “I guess it looks like you guys are pretty even match, wouldn’t you say?”

Mr. Saotome poured warmed water over his son. I entered the room with a towel at hand.

Boy Ranma: “I guess suppose so that Kuno and I are.”

“Here Ranma.” I handed him a dry towel.

Ranma blinks at me. “Ah…Thank you Megumi.” He wraps it around his shoulders and dries out his hair.

I smiled at him, “I am glad you’re ok, Ranma.” I made my way out when Ranma calls out to me.

“Why are you helping me, Megumi?” He asks wondering why I was being nice to him.

I turned around and smiled, “I wouldn’t like to see you have an awful first day of school than already is.” With that I left the P.E. equipment room. As I left the room, Mr. Saotome stares at his son.

Ranma: “What?!”

The panda holds up a sign: She’s sweet of her to care, don’t yah think?

Ranma glares while blushing, “W-What! N-No!”

Luckily Akane made it to class on time, except for me and Ranma. The teacher sent us outside the classroom for tardiness. We both stood at the hallway with buckets of water within our hands. None of us spoke until Ranma spoke, “This is your fault.”

I was shocked, and whispered harshly at him. I didn’t get in trouble for speaking at the hallway, “What! How is this my fault?”

“You got me involved into that stupid fight with Kuno.” Ranma whispers back.

“I warned you about him, Ranma. On top of that, you were the one that accepted the challenge in the first place!” I glared at him as I continued, “Look here, Ranma. Everything would have been well since Akane and I always manage to finish our fights every morning before the first bell.”

Ranma continues to looks straight at the window, avoiding my glare. He kinda felt bad knowing that he is fighting with me after I helped him out, “About that, what was that all about, anyway?”

I sighed as I began to explain to him, “At the beginning of the semester, Kuno was at the speech contest and said that if any boy who wishes to date Akane and I, they must defeat Akane in combat and be able break through my defense.”

Ranma: “Break through your defense? What he mean by that?”

I looked away from him and stared outside the window, “I don’t fight back, Ranma. All I do every morning is dodge and revert their own attacks.”

“Why don’t you fight back, Megumi?!” Ranma was confused knowing how good my fighting technique is just by watching how easily I dodge and counteract attacks.

I looked down at my reflection from the bucket of water, “I can’t fight them.”

Ranma: “Why the heck not? Its self-defense!”

Me: “Self-defense is fighting back to those who seek to harm you, Ranma. These guys aren’t out to cause us harm, but following a stupid guys circumstances to be able to date us.” Ranma didn’t know what to say. In a way he was amazed by what I said, yet confused as to why not just fight?

Ranma: “You mean you fight with Kuno every morning?”

Me: “Not every morning. Everyday he switches between me and Akane. I thought he would be tired by now since we both always win against him.”

Ranma: “Well, when the opponent’s a girl, even Kuno would probably take it easy.”

“What are you serious?!” I looked at him as he looks away, which causes me to smirk, “Would you like to spare with me sometime?”

Ranma: “Nope, you’re still a girl.”

“Oh, so you’re saying if we’re both girls, you have no problem sparing with me.” I said prepared myself to launch the bucket of water at him.

Ranma was startled, “W-Wait a—AHHH!” Ranma dodges a gush at water. He sees Kuno with a bucket of empty water at his grasp, “KUNO!”

Kuno: “Ranma Saotome! I won’t allow it! This engagement of yours to Akane and Megumi! I, Tatewaki Kuno, shall never, EVER allow it!”

*Oh no!* I knew that the class room herd what Kuno yelled out because not even a second later everyone in the class room jumps out from the window and keep asking Ranma and I.

“RANMA!” Kuno yells as he charges at us. Ranma shoves me out of harms way.

Ranma: “This is no place for a fight! Kuno, follow me!”

Kuno: “That I shall!”

They both took off, leaving me and the classroom behind. Akane gets furious within the classroom, “You’ve got to be kidding me!”

I bit my lip, “Dammit Ranma!” Akane and I were furious over various reasons. Few were mainly about that Ranma is about to take on Kuno yet AGAIN! And now the whole damn school knows about our engagement with Ranma.

Ranma is running until he sees an open window, “Let’s take the fastest way out!” Ranma jumps out the window with Kuno jumping out aswell. I quickly notice their crazy stunt from jumping out the third floor.

Me: “Ranma! Are you nutz!”

Ranma: “Don’t worry! I’ll be ok!”

Me: “But Ranma! You’ll fall into the pool!”

“Huh? Pool?” Ranma looks down as he is falling in mid-air, “AAAAAAAH! No-o-o--! Why does it have to be water?!”

A big gush of water explodes as Ranma and Kuno fall into it. I was worried, not only for his safety but his curse will be revealed to the entire school, *…Ranma…*

Mr. Saotome poured warmed water over his son. I entered the room with a towel at hand.

Boy Ranma: “I guess suppose so that Kuno and I are.”

“Here Ranma.” I handed him a dry towel.

Ranma blinks at me. “Ah…Thank you Megumi.” He wraps it around his shoulders and dries out his hair.

I smiled at him, “I am glad you’re ok, Ranma.” I made my way out when Ranma calls out to me.

“Why are you helping me, Megumi?” He asks wondering why I was being nice to him.

I turned around and smiled, “I wouldn’t like to see you have an awful first day of school than already is.” With that I left the P.E. equipment room. As I left the room, Mr. Saotome stares at his son.

Ranma: “What?!”

The panda holds up a sign: She’s sweet of her to care, don’t yah think?

Ranma glares while blushing, “W-What! N-No!”

Luckily Akane made it to class on time, except for me and Ranma. The teacher sent us outside the classroom for tardiness. We both stood at the hallway with buckets of water within our hands. None of us spoke until Ranma spoke, “This is your fault.”

I was shocked, and whispered harshly at him. I didn’t get in trouble for speaking at the hallway, “What! How is this my fault?”

“You got me involved into that stupid fight with Kuno.” Ranma whispers back.

“I warned you about him, Ranma. On top of that, you were the one that accepted the challenge in the first place!” I glared at him as I continued, “Look here, Ranma. Everything would have been well since Akane and I always manage to finish our fights every morning before the first bell.”

Ranma continues to looks straight at the window, avoiding my glare. He kinda felt bad knowing that he is fighting with me after I helped him out, “About that, what was that all about, anyway?”

I sighed as I began to explain to him, “At the beginning of the semester, Kuno was at the speech contest and said that if any boy who wishes to date Akane and I, they must defeat Akane in combat and be able break through my defense.”

Ranma: “Break through your defense? What he mean by that?”

I looked away from him and stared outside the window, “I don’t fight back, Ranma. All I do every morning is dodge and revert their own attacks.”

“Why don’t you fight back, Megumi?!” Ranma was confused knowing how good my fighting technique is just by watching how easily I dodge and counteract attacks.

I looked down at my reflection from the bucket of water, “I can’t fight them.”

Ranma: “Why the heck not? Its self-defense!”

Me: “Self-defense is fighting back to those who seek to harm you, Ranma. These guys aren’t out to cause us harm, but following a stupid guys circumstances to be able to date us.” Ranma didn’t know what to say. In a way he was amazed by what I said, yet confused as to why not just fight?

Ranma: “You mean you fight with Kuno every morning?”

Me: “Not every morning. Everyday he switches between me and Akane. I thought he would be tired by now since we both always win against him.”

Ranma: “Well, when the opponent’s a girl, even Kuno would probably take it easy.”

“What are you serious?!” I looked at him as he looks away, which causes me to smirk, “Would you like to spare with me sometime?”

Ranma: “Nope, you’re still a girl.”

“Oh, so you’re saying if we’re both girls, you have no problem sparing with me.” I said prepared myself to launch the bucket of water at him.

Ranma was startled, “W-Wait a—AHHH!” Ranma dodges a gush at water. He sees Kuno with a bucket of empty water at his grasp, “KUNO!”

Kuno: “Ranma Saotome! I won’t allow it! This engagement of yours to Akane and Megumi! I, Tatewaki Kuno, shall never, EVER allow it!”

*Oh no!* I knew that the class room herd what Kuno yelled out because not even a second later everyone in the class room jumps out from the window and keep asking Ranma and I.

“RANMA!” Kuno yells as he charges at us. Ranma shoves me out of harms way.

Ranma: “This is no place for a fight! Kuno, follow me!”

Kuno: “That I shall!”

They both took off, leaving me and the classroom behind. Akane gets furious within the classroom, “You’ve got to be kidding me!”

I bit my lip, “Dammit Ranma!” Akane and I were furious over various reasons. Few were mainly about that Ranma is about to take on Kuno yet AGAIN! And now the whole damn school knows about our engagement with Ranma.

Ranma is running until he sees an open window, “Let’s take the fastest way out!” Ranma jumps out the window with Kuno jumping out aswell. I quickly notice their crazy stunt from jumping out the third floor.

Me: “Ranma! Are you nutz!”

Ranma: “Don’t worry! I’ll be ok!”

Me: “But Ranma! You’ll fall into the pool!”

“Huh? Pool?” Ranma looks down as he is falling in mid-air, “AAAAAAAH! No-o-o--! Why does it have to be water?!”

A big gush of water explodes as Ranma and Kuno fall into it. I was worried, not only for his safety but his curse will be revealed to the entire school, *…Ranma…*

Until the next Chapter, Megumi announces: "Dammit Ranma?! What will you do now that you've turned to a girl. What if the whole entire school discovers your secret?!...Hope your ok, though..."
