"Contrary to common knowledge, a merman belongs to the undead category of monsters as opposed to the aquatic.
This is because a merman is formed when someone with the predisposition of becoming a ghost dies at a great depth.
the crushing pressure forces the soul back into the the body which morphs into an amalgamation of fish and human.
the defining detail is that this is not a live organism but rather a reanimated and transformed corpse similar to the vampire."
