It almost looks like a religious icon. Though I suppose it's kind of Rorschach in that regard.

Did you find welding to be difficult, other than the initial trial and error of learning?

It's more tedious to me. It's arranging pieces of metal so they stay still while you tack them together with a force that often times sticks so when you move it the pieces fall away, or stand and be terrified that, if you accidentally shift a piece of metal under the blade, the band saw will snap and slice your torso open. I dunno. Not my favorite. I like tactile.

I think I'd be relatively bad at it. I also wish soldering things were an easier feat as well, because you can't just slap two pieces of incompatible metals together. Jewelry making is difficult.

It's... it's easy though. Welding, your usually using all the same type of metal because it has to hold itself up and together, and it's very fast. Soldering as I understand it is more time consuming because you're working on tiny little things, and you have to be very precise. Not so on a larger scale.

I would be afraid of harming myself in some way.

You did some welding? <33333
I am loving my welding class. I should do something more interesting this semester.

I didn't just dooo welding, I was forced to XD
I liked it. It isn't my favorite thing, and I'm terrified of the torch, and the plasma cutter is something I will never ever go near unless threatened with some other form of death.
This piece was begrudgingly born. I didn't want it to be so lol. But I am a little happy with it now, several months later.

I wanna see stuff that you do!

I cherish and adore the plasma cutter.
I built...all kinds of small pieces, mostly. Infuriated my teacher who said "You're not here to make jewelry!" but I made a small barn, could fit on a nightstand. With a razor tree and a twisted star. My grandparents have it now.
I also made...a gorgeous relief of a bear...and a tiny falcon...hmm. A hideous abstract tree. A wire tree with dangling mobile monkey. And a solid cast aluminum lizard.
Ooh. And a tiny metal rocking horse.

Aww, those are all lovely things to make. We weren't allowed to make anything that resembled anything really. Everything I ever made in metal was for an assignment that had to be abstract. Which BLOWS.
You should have made a giiiiant diamond ring after the jewelry comment. Heh.

Omg. Someone did make a metal pillow and a giant ring, that was freaky.

Omg, all abstract? Tsch. Needs moar freedom.

Haha, probably heard your teach say no jewelry, too.

Yeah, it was all about "learning how to work with the material." Even though we were in sculpture 3 at that point, and had used that same reasoning all throughout sculpture 1 and 2.

xD Omg. You can learn while you make something realistic. Or representational.
