After the way he treated Chell and GLaDOS I'm starting to think he actually read Machiavelli (Cynical Italians are cynical...)

Gotta love that guy... Stephen Merchant is amazing. Even when he's playing someone that's *not* a moron

The best part about Wheatley is how they wrote him with Steve in mind. Watching his stand-up and acting after learning about him through Portal--it's really not that far off base from the character.

...see, the thing that amuses me most about this is imagining what would probably come right after: all those books toppling over in a heap.

Love the lighting on Wheatley here.

Hello, beautiful.
Wow, it must have taken FOREVER to draw all those books. But they look so good. *.*

I had this bizarre thought one night that in addition to Machiavelli, Wheatley also read George Orwell at some point. Specifically 1984. But because he was insane at the time, he wasn't able to grasp it's message. Now though, he truly understands what kind of a world you create when you dedicate everything you have to maintaining power, purely for the sake of maintaining power.
