any! like... where do you start? laying down the pen first or laying down the water color first? what kind of ratio of water to color to use.. ie, really watery, or not watery at all. how to get the fine detail, how to get the fading/shading effect. im pretty horrible at paints, and its something im really trying to improve. water colors have always been really messy for me, but then again i guess the first step is to experiment. thanks again!

well, i'm probaly not the best person to ask, since i'm still learning and messing around with no formal training at all..yikes. but okay, on your own risk..(heh)
um, well first i lay down the inklines with waterproof india-ink and a small brush. i've used watercolour-pencils (for the boxers) and (cheap, crappy) watercolours out of a tube (for the wings). the pants, belt, chain, background is with japanese sumi-ink. which is watersolutable and less 'harsh' then india ink. for the fading/shading out, i use a clean bigger brush and some clean water to go over the edges and 'spread' the ink/watercolour out some more. when colouring just start light and 'built' it up to the darker shading areas with more layers.

lovely picture, and beautiful use of contrasting tones - without being harsh, and being honest, i'd say this is definately a daily deviation feature were it to be without that horrible belt and its colours :/ it doesnt fit with the wing/organic things coming from the body, and seems to be definately to be confused between realism/faux realism/anime. lose the belt colours, which are badly drawn/painted imo, and stick with the monochrome effect.
i can see what you were trying to achieve with colour contrasts and tone, but you seem to have done well, then concentrated on the imperfect balance..
the details (eg creasing around the arse, or the leaf source) are far too dark, detailed and look kind of out place :/ sorry if i seem harsh, but i hate the cult of praise that surrounds this wussy ass deviantart community - how are we to improve if people just say OMG great!
otherwise, good pic. you, and your style fits anime/manga/faux western imitations of the aformentioned really particuarly well - realistic art? no. cartoon like and understandable representations of an emotion or message ? yes.

hmm...belt colours??! it has no colours! at least not when i drew it. the belt and the pants are shaded with black sumi-ink wash. but maybe even without the colours the belt itself looks horrid too? ehehe..
