Description
The opposing forces of good and evil. They do not always look as you expect them to.The Angelucians, deemed so beautiful by the humans, started a cult. The cult grew in numbers, consuming entire countries and groups of people. Within this cult ran bigotry and self righteousness, hate and greed were a daily and excepted form of thought. Alchemy was banished, and science frowned upon.
The Demonika were considered frightening by most humans, and since they battled their precious Angelucians, they must be evil right? No, the Demonika wanted man to grow, to learn, to find wonders in his world. Science and alchemy were greatly encouraged. Working with the environment, not against it, was also encouraged. Finding ones self was important, false "gods" were not.

I have the same view. I think I already told you that. In my view if there is any truth to these anicent stories then perhaps these 'gods' were just extremely advanced compared to our ancestors and were saw as divine beings with their 'magical' tech. I'm sure if we went back in time with some of the things we can do today we might be viewed as something higher.

oh yes, for sure. even something as simple as a pen, or a lighter would be magical back then. NOt to mention helicopters and airplanes, vehicles, tv, computers, hell anything from now haha

I often think about these very subjects.
Good luck in the challenge!

Thank you so much
the description is something I've had in my head for quite some time. Two alien races, and young humanity's need for something to make sense of everything. I truly do feel that religion is evil. It brings war, hatred and intolerance. Take a look at history and some of it's people. Hitler, the Crusades, Salem witch trials, KKK, and that's only the tip of the iceberg. I feel, that because of all of this religion and the hatred between the different factions, humanity will eventually kill itself off. Well, between wars and overpopulation.

Phyl-CGI In reply to IncyVortex [2013-01-09 20:47:52 +0000 UTC]
Not exactly...
The religion, whatever it is, is something good, as long as it gives you a good starting point for your own path, without limiting your freedom.
The biggest problem with most of the religions are the humans themselves, with their own need of power, the same need of power you will find among all these f...king $$$-addicted "under-humans", capable of crushing people to earn more money
Indeed, the good and the evil aren't always easy to distinguish...

I think people often forget that there is a difference between spirituality, religion and belief.
Organised religion is what most people think of when they think of 'religion'. And I totally agree with what both you and Incy have said.... I can't see a lot of good in most organised religions!!!
π: 0 β©: 1
Phyl-CGI In reply to toska9 [2013-01-10 12:14:51 +0000 UTC]
Well said, you're right concerning the lack of distinction. Unfortunately, that's sometimes on purpose: the power through the control, and the most successful "organizations" are doing this in a way you're convinced it's your choice

toska9 In reply to Phyl-CGI [2013-01-11 00:30:12 +0000 UTC]
I always get my citations of quotes wrong but anyway:
I can't remember if it was Lenin or Stalin (I think the former) who said: "Religion is the opium of the people."
Too true: opiates are highly addictive and they end up controlling you... unfortunately, a lot of the good things about organised religion are lost or outweighed by the controlled, dictatorial and omnipresent nature of many organisations.
....don't get me started! (packs away soap box in furtherest part of closet...)

I just find, at least in this country, Christianity is a nuisance. They whine about no prayer in schools, yet they don't want the Muslim to do their prayers where anyone can see them. Many of the offshoots of Christianity are racist, and intolerant. Just like with the whole "gay is evil, God hates fags" come on, seriously? And that's not just one small group, there are very many that feel this way. We are supposed to have freedom of religion here, but it seems that it's only freedom of one of the faiths in Christianity. We have a ton of laws that are due to religion. No buying alcohol on Sundays (that is finally starting to go away, even if slowly). Gay marriage is not legal in most states, because somewhere in the bible it supposedly says that gay is evil. Where I live with my parents, I cannot watch shows on the universe and science, because.... they are a lie against god. Not even joking on that.

I understand your point of view... One of the biggest nuisance, nowadays, is the limited brain of some men with a little too much of power, they surely miss a lot of their neurons...

IncyVortex In reply to Phyl-CGI [2013-01-09 23:16:02 +0000 UTC]
Yes, everything seems to be about acquiring more and more power and money. I still have problems understanding money. I mean, I know you need it to buy stuff,.. but it's pretty much a worthless piece of paper. I don't know why we need more and more of it. Barter I can understand, trade services for goods etc... but money and power... you can't take any of it with you when you die, so why do some people need so much of it.

Even worse, why do you need so much money that you could never possibly use. Like the amounts sports player get, millions each year. really? for playing a game? How about pay TEACHERS more, you know, careers that are very important. Doctors ... well, they get paid pretty well anyway. Now, politicians make way more money than they need to. They need a salary cap, and one that isn't very high. That way, people that actually cared could be in the government, and not just the bastards that want money and power.
*sigh* so annoyed with most of this planet lately. Starting to get a superiority complex, because really, people just don't seem to see some simple solutions to some of the problems we are having.
