Yeah, I got tired of Daolan's Dollzone default. The eyebrows didn't match his black hair at all.At first I was all like "OhmanI'mgoingtofuckthisupsobad." but it actually turned out really nice. My hand's steadier than I thought. Yey.
His new make-up was done with Gallery pastels, acrylics, some gloss and a shitload of Testors sealant. Daolan's a Dollzone Yuu. :U

I don't mean this to be offensive or anything, but I have been seeing a lot more of these dolls around DA and was just wondering what exactly the purpose of them is? Because they cost $1000+ right? That seems like a ton just for a doll.

Yeah, they're rather expensive and don't worry, you're not being rude. We get questions like this all the time.
They're expensive because of the material they're made of, they're handmade and usually hand-painted by the company. A lot of time and effort goes into each doll. That and they're collectibles. c:
And for the most part, ball-jointed dolls run for $300-$800. I've seen them run for $1000+ but that's usually because they're limited edition, from an expensive company or extremely elaborate.
As for their purposes, they make a great creative outlet. People create original characters through them, modify and alter them, others sew and design clothing for their dolls and a large majority of the hobby uses them as models for photography.
