Maybe she's not a congenital quad. Perhaps her first boyfriend was older than her, a surgeon and a devotee. She was too young at the time to recognise the signs that the thoughts she was thinking were not her own, that she was being manipulated. She allowed, even wanted the surgery that would make her his dream girl. It was only later on that the holes began to appear, the inevitable wear and tear of relationships. One argument, one misspoken word, one young woman abandoned outside her parents house by her ex. Perhaps they could have repaired the relationship, if only she could have picked up the phone. All this is theoretical since all that matters is now she spends her time scrolling through images taken by her friends, looking at what her life might, should, have been.
