The Mental

Personality
 Amicable / Hard-Working / Motivated
 Sarcastic / Extroverted
 Distrustful / Apathetic / Impersonal

On the surface Ellie is a very friendly dog, excitable and eager to be involved in anything and everything. She has boundless energy, and can also be quite the chatterbox if you let her! She loves to talk and spend time with others, and absolutely hates to be alone more than anything else. Her restless nature can make her tiring for others who prefer calm and quiet, as these are things that are just not in Ellie's vocabulary. She doesn't at all seem to have an off-button, and it's rare to see her take the time to rest and relax as she'd much rather be off running around or getting into something. For this reason it can either be very easy to become her friend, or get annoyed by her.

Not that she would care if someone was annoyed. She's not the type to get offended, and if anyone doesn't like her, well, that's their problem. She lets things slide off her back easily, and if someone has an issue she is not going to dwell on it. She may crack jokes or make sarcastic comments, which can sometimes worsen situations. She is not at all good at de-escalation, but she is, if nothing else, good at escaping trouble. And what she lacks in tact she makes up for in quick wit and an even quicker tongue. You can tell she was truly born and raised on the streets.

And yet, for all her friendliness and desire to be near others, that does not mean she trusts others. She always fully expects others to look out for themselves, first and foremost, and as such she does the same. And for all that she and others may refer to one another as friends, she is just as ready to cut and run on them as she is anyone else. It's not that she dislikes others, or wants to take advantage of others; this is just the life she is used to, and if it's between her and a stranger, she chooses herself.

Where She Came From

Mother:
Bella (Deceased)
Father: Unknown
Littermates: Rusty (Brother, Alive); Ash (Sister, Alive)

Backstory
Ellie's mother, Bella, was a dog generally kept outside on a chain. Her owners were harsh, though not so terrible that authorities would get involved. They just barely scraped by being able to keep their dog, even if said dog was miserable. But there came a day when Bella met a stray who was just as lonely as her, and though the two only knew each other maybe a week, they provided one another some amount of love and company that they had been longing for seemingly their whole lives.

Unfortunately, the dog that would be Ellie's father disappeared before he ever knew Bella was pregnant. And when Ellie and her siblings were born, her mother's owners were so overwhelmed, they did not know what to do. So, they took their dog and her puppies out in a box, on the outskirts of the city, and left them there. Thankfully, Bella was able to get most of them to a proper shelter, though the cold would take a couple of her siblings. How many perished before she opened her eyes, Ellie is unsure. But by the time she could see and understand, she had only two siblings; a brother and sister. Rusty and Ash. Together with their mother, they were a pack, with love and loyalty for one another.

Yet it would not last. There came a day when Rusty would return home and tearfully announce that their mother had been hit by a car, and killed. It was a brutal blow, and yet somehow the more painful loss was when Ash was willingly taken by a human family and made their pet. It felt like a betrayal, after growing up hearing stories from their mother about how terrible and neglectful humans were. Yet when Rusty suggested that maybe that was a good idea, to look for a human family, Ellie cursed him and the two split. The family was officially broken.

Ellie would not be alone for long, though. She couldn't. She needed others. And thankfully, it seemed there was a pack of dogs forming. One where maybe she could have safety and security once again. But she would be careful, and watchful, to ensure they did not betray her trust as her siblings had.
