I went to sea on ships for 13.5 years, not counting the Merchant Marine Academy (civilian). I have always love sailing ship and they were the first things I drew as a boy.

Helpful Hints (I hope):

Do you use Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or GIMP?

When you reflect an image, like mountains, you would typically do it on a separate layer. Then you want to distort the mountains to match the water. The best way to do this is to use a Displacement map, which may be a new technique for you. Displacement maps allow you to do tremendous things because they allow you to map one thing to another. For example you can map a waterfall into the ocean, and it will look like the ocean going over the edge. You can map your nation's flag to your naked body and it will follow every pore and contour.

Here is a tutorial on Displacement maps: [link]

The next thing to look at is the sharpness of the ship, compared to the sharpness over the other elements. Being in the foreground will add sharpness, but the ship lines are still overly sharp.

——————————————————

Finally, whenever you bring another element into your composite, be sure that it has no Fringe. Fringe is left over pixels from the image it came from that are either too light or too dark. In this case, the fringe is light, or white, and if you look along the stern of the ship and along the sail edges, you can see a thin white line.

It is a bit tedious, but you could clean it up with clone tool. It is best to get rid of it when you are first extracting the ship.

In the future, when you make you selections of things like your ship, if you use Photoshop, you can refine your selection using Refine Edge

If you do not know how to use QUICKMASK Mode in PS, it is covered in thisTutorial: [link]

If you bring your ship over to the image with the mountains (be sure to always have it on its own new layer) and Fringe is still showing:

If you see any fringe, you can double-click on the ship layer's thumbnail to select the ship. Then invert the selection (Select > Invert). Then press the delete key and see if the fringe goes away. If not, then go to the Select > Modify > Expand by 1 pixel. Then delete again, and so on to clean it up.

You can also try Selecting the ship, Stroking it with black, then Edit > Fade Stroke, then fade it down enough to make the fringe go away.

Your are most welcome. The two things I admire the most in artists is imagination and creativity. While compositing is all about taking elements from other art, it is obviously very creative. Your work shows me that that you have a lot of talent, creativity, and imagination.

Pirates of the Caribbean meets Lord of the Rings, nice job.
Only thing I don't really like is the reflection looks a little static but other than that, like the idea and everything else.
