Thanks...I'm getting better at it. But, I do still rely on at least 20 layers and often go back in and mess with the colors more. I cheat

but but but thats the beauty of digital! I would recommend trying traditional media (watercolours or oils etc) they make you predetermine yours strokes and colors. I feel like i learn a lot doing them.

I'm finally getting to that point. I was was just telling my husband yesterday that I intend to make good use of his paints (since he isn't these days).
Now finding the space to work in is another story.

In this case, I started by roughing in the torso from the photo. I then removed the image and painted the rest in varied digital paints.
