You woke up the next day in a cold sweat. You are rarely that scared from a dream and usually you can remember what it was that caused you so much fear in your dream. Even if said thing isn't actually scary after you are up.

This time, however, you couldn't remember a thing from that dream.

You try to shrug it off, assuming that it probably wasn't anything serious anyway, and get dressed and ready for the long, lonesome day that comes with the only one with no school or job in the house. You check the time to see that Jerold would've already left for school by then. The silence throughout the house confirmed this in your mind, so you simply jumped online and surfed for a while.

About an hour of surfing later, the school called. You answered professionally only to be informed that Jerold never showed up to school. You knew your brother. If he was gonna skip school, he would do it by simply staying home. Panicking, you dial 911 to make a missing person's report.

Static. You were greeted with static. Why was static coming through and not the dispatch? You family's phone service was really good and the bill had been paid recently. Confused, you hang up the phone and try again, redialing 911 and being damn sure you got it right this time. Once again, you were greeted by static. Right as you were about to hang up again for a third try, a distorted, male-like voice comes through.

"Hello, beautiful~!" The voice said, slightly cooingly "As much as I would love to let you call the cops, I can't."

Angered, you shout at the person on the other side of the line "What the hell do you want?"

To that, you get a giggly laugh coming through the phone.

"I just want to make sure that it's the child's legal guardian that calls the almighty police and not the annoying, nosy sister."

Anger and fear swelling in your throat, you hang up the phone. Obviously someone had bugged your family phone and prevented you from making it more likely that Jerold would live. You do over to your neighbor's house and asked if you could use their phone. You told them that it was an emergency and your phone won't work right. They let you in and bring you to the phone. You call 911 again only to be blocked by the distorted voice.

"Hello again, beautiful~!"
