Description
Photo was taken on 26th November 2023 at 12:14am UK time.By far my top favourites, their final designs making it more so^^ Don't ask about the fact that Libra's arm is obviously asymmetrical, I simply didn't have enough room the page. And oh my god my first attempt at drawing a scorpion ever turned out WAY more adorable than I expected (to me at least).
I made Libra a female and Scorpio a male. This was partially due to personal opinions, but also because of a few articles I found talking about how the Zodiac signs have associated genders depending on their elemental sign.
From what I read:
Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are classed as "Fire Signs"
Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are classed as "Earth Signs"
Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are classed as "Air Signs"
Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are classed as "Water Signs"
With that in mind:
Fire Signs & Air Signs are considered to be masculine, and the Earth Signs & Water Signs are considered to be feminine.
Now on to the designs.
- Libra: In the end I went for the depiction of a woman holding a set of scales within her hands, with ribbon wrapped around her arms.
- I liked the idea that she has no legs and is just a floating being, or she could just be covering them entirely.
- Gave her a dress similar to the togas I gave Aquarius, the Gemini twins and Virgo.
- I included a simple headpiece as a nod to the scales and what they represent.
- Scorpio: Just a simple scorpion.
- The one thing the makes them different is the pair of stones on the pincers. They're meant to resemble the two ruling planets of Scorpio- Mars & Pluto.
- I chose to include the symbols of each sign somewhere on their bodies. Libra's symbol is located on both of their cheeks, while Scorpio's symbol is located on their back. No reason for this, just a personal decision.
-Okay, I may have lied a little about that, but only in Libra's case. I had Star vs The Forces of Evil in my head while drawing her, and got inspired to do the cheek symbols that each member of the Butterfly Royal Family had. It also works with the whole balance/equality premise that Libra has going on.
- Also the colours I did the names in are a small hint as to what each sign's palette could be. Keep in mind though I wouldn't base the final palettes solely on their associated colours, there are other factors that would be in play for them.
Anyways let me know what you think about these!^^
