Since the very first day we met her, we know that Vatyra wants to understand the true nature of the Ardat-Yakshi and maybe find a cure for her sisters. She admitted that, with the help of a brilliant scientist, she was very close to find an answer. But the Reaper War began... And Vatyra told us that her beloved friend had much more important projects he was taking care of, so their research needed to be on hiatus. Later, we discovered that the friend and brilliant scientist was no less than Mordin Solus, the famous Salarian. I've never seen Vatyra talking about someone with so much tenderness and respect but I can understand her feelings. I also suppose somehow there is some kind of pride to have been able to work with such a talented person...
At the end of the conflict, she made an oath; they together put so much efforts in this project, that she would continue. Even without him. No matter what happened or should happen next. This is the least she can do to honor his sacrifice, his will and his kindness...
(note: btw... I began to understand with who Vatyra trained her distinctive sense of humor and singing skills...)

Urdnot Wrex... Is there one Krogan more famous than this charismatic, feared and impressive leader in the whole galaxy? Bounty hunter and criminal for some, savior and protector of his kin for the other, Shepard's unexpected friend and ally for all, Wrex is the kind of person you usually do not hope in your plans but whose sudden meeting is greatly appreciated.
(Chance would say Fate has a rotten sense of humor though...)
