Hi there!Yet another "against-the-light" matte painting.
I want to show off a post apocalyptic destroyed cityscape, maybe after a war.
It's done with Photoshop CS and After Effects.
I kept the buildings in several layers and added fog in between.
Finally I rendered a camera pullback in After Effects with a previous version of the matte.
Please use "save target as ...", since I haven't optimised the clips for streaming:

You know, I and some others looked at this for a while and some months back we figured that this scene couldn't be a nuke because of the lack of a crater, likewise the same thing rules out an asteroid impact. Abandonment and decay also doesn't work like that (see: Chernobyl). A city-wide fire could also be the cause, but the fire department would have SLAMMED that one. A fire caused by a solar flare wouldn't be the case - survivors are there, as indicated by the lights (trash can fires?).
That pretty much leaves one possibility: a massive conventional bombardment.
Look at this similar real-life result of conventional bombings (an Israeli warplane attack, in this case), it is quite similar on a small scale:

Yeah, I know, a whole lot of over-analysis. It's just that this picture haunted the heck out of me and I had to rationalize! Well done!
