Description "Hidden", a small village in the middle of nowhere.

I started off with a line drawing in Photoshop 7.
This my first matte, which worked without the use of any photo references. I tried to imagine a
Lord-of-the-rings styled landscape with an asian touch of architecture.
The original is in a 4k-resolution.

Critiques and comments are very welcome!

Thanks for viewing,

Daniel

Ah! You're the guy who 'base paints', or atleast that's what my small circle of CG friends like to call it.
Start with a simple model in 3D, lighting included and then paint the details in Photoshop, right?

Did you do the same for this?

Beautiful piece btw!!

no not at all, I'm mostly drawing my perspective freely. The entire lighting and shading I do in Photoshop.
No 3d programs were involved. But for certain camera projection techniques I'm used to paint on cg bases.
Thanks for the fav and the comments.

Hallo Daniel

This was the first work of yours I saw, and it struck me at first as a photograph until I saw it in detail.

Better than a photograph, I love this kind of art. Not only that, but the masterfulk way it's been rendered digitally yet still gives the odd illusion of traditional media, one could really escape into this kind of a serene world. I can definitely see the LOTR inspirations, but it's the vale itself that's enthralling. A marvellous use of textures, again, bringing out the beauty in the foliage.

Fantastic composition,

so delicate and beautiful. i love how the background receds into light. the bridge in the back is really rather lovely too. the houses are simply gorgeous. they really have such an old warm glow to them. really nice work on the roofs. the water is so nice and playful. it really adds life to the image. the arboreal verdance is so wonderfully detailed. i wonder from where you summoned the patience to do that part. great composition too. i like the feeling of being overhead of this, perhaps in a tree on the mountainside/hillside. very nice. you take me away to your picturesque world.

Wow I'd say you achieved your goals. The architecture especially is interesting They look like European-built stone buildings, but the lines of the roofs definitely have an Asian tinge. I like the look a lot. The waterfalls and cliffs in the landscape are beautiful as well, and your job on the fog is just unbelievable.

Hmm one thing in critique is the sky backround... i think it should be a little bit smoother... but the complete image is so... wow

Ahh. Very well done in my opinion. Can’t really give you any constrictive criticism since my traditional skills are on the bottom of the pool. I think depth of field is done right and the highlight shown properly. I probably would want to see more details... But I guess this is not the style of this painting…
