Description
Hi there,I once tried to project paintings on 3D-geometries.
Since Cinema 4D 8.5 supports camera-projection, it's fun to use
this feature.
I've created an alien environment, which I want to use for a
"camera-pullback-animation".
The block model was modelled in a couple of minutes with Cinema 4D.
Here's the blcokmodel I started off: [link]
As you see, at the first I've chosen some warm colors.
Later I replaced them with colder ones.
It would be interesting to know, what you think
about this way starting off a painting.
Feel free for critics and comments.
Thanks for viewing,
Daniel

I really enjoy this piece. I like that I am challenged to understand the purpose of the objects but I am having a little trouble understanding the scales. The discs seem very large compared to the objects before them.
Overal 9 out of 10. Very well done.

i love the alien cityscape. beautifully rendered. and tho i am far from one to comment on the quality of anything done by an artist, i think that its really great. the one criticism i would offer is that the moon looks like it is being reflected off the clouds instead of being an object existing behind them.

I like your work. ^_^ but the direction of the light (from the sky - maybe the moon or whatever) didn't fit on the shadows and lightings below. Based on the link that your provide, the light there is good. but on your matte painting, it seems that the light from the sky turned a little bit on the left but your shadows below seemed to be the same. ^_^ i cannot explain it very well!!hehehe not really good in english! hehe! but you did a great job. I don't even know how to make a 3d model, maybe next year. well bye!!

The detail is mind boggling, I just don't know what to look at, I could spend an hour probing every little nuance, and I feel it would never end.
It's fantastic.

hey, i'm just wondering. did you paint this, and then add textures? like on that close ship to the right, did you add those textures in after you painted? or did you paint it with those textures in?

man, these things are awesome, how do u do them - do you just make a simple render and then do the rest in photoshop or what?

Man, I got so much trouble using lighting on Cinema 4D that I've lost the better part of the hope I had on it as I can see I might be the only one with that probleme
Really nice work here, what did you use for the sky?

Phew... amazing! I do think that the 3D modelling works and gives a visual depth to your work that the previous piece did not quite achieve. While I think the colour work in the previous piece was more intricate and vibrant, here you do achieve a lot of effect with texture. I also think that cold and blue work with the movement in the background, and the hints of life in the main picture. I think a brower colour would work, but more in the context of a isolated and dead dessert. The action and lively feeling built into the image wouldn't work in the alternative colour.
Very good! Like the way the moon has been blended into the background! Keep it up!
