Description
Puh, ... I had no time for personal works lately.A short break today resulted in to that mattepainting you see here.
I'll use it as projection matte in a 3d-animation I'm currently working on.
Since I only need the bottom part of the planet, I don't create the whole planet in 3d XD ...
5 hours Photoshop CS. My Wacom as usual
No Photoreferences used (ok, .. I've used a moon texture found via google for the moons)
Thanks for watching,
Critiques, suggestions and comments are always appreciated,
Daniel

Very nice and moody.
The moon on the foreground has serious tectonic/volcanous or meteor problems!
To live there... could be challenging

Definately reminded me of Coruscant from Star Wars, but thats what's so breath taking about this piece. That someone can actually draw on a level with proffesional computer digitalization! Kudos to you good sir. ^^

It's totally amazing but... I must say that... it looks like Corusnat + Mustafr combo.
But that don't make it any less awesome.

I love the perspective and feeling of this... it's like I'm floating right in there, orbiting the planet. The city lights and the explosions on the red moon are excellent as well. And the rings! They look so delicate Mustmust

That's gorgeous. It seems like i'm watching the domino effect on the planetary scale. All of these reactions simultaneously bouncing about in one glorious instant. Simply and breathtakingly...gorgeous

but i think clouds seem to be as if they are too far from the planet. just a suggestion.
anyway great work!

Very beautiful! I like the texture and color of the clouds, and also those explosions. The lights of the vast cities is a nice touch.

omg...i envy you for your kick ass skills
i wish i could do stuff like that...
other than that...the planet in the front is a bit too dominating for my taste...but that's only me anyway.
great work

some really nice parts, like the mini impacts on the moon, but a lot of it feels fairly flat as opposed to 3d, most notably the right portion of the main planet. The clouds also seem as though they're springing out of the planets atmosphere a little. Not bad, but some things to work on.

you chose a difficult angle to work from, especially from a painting point of view. I do hope you try more space-themed pieces soon

why is the moon blowing up, are those energy beams offensive ?

magikhobo [2005-04-20 07:08:25 +0000 UTC]
those cities on the planet must so huge, there bigger then entire countries on earth and they must be strugling to get that light through a atmosphere, any way i love it

This is beautiful, I especially like the home-planet
But I wanna talk bout physics - The big planet has probably huge gravity, I assume that this gravity is much stronger then moons grav. So the meteors should fall onto the planet, am I right ? People ? Specialists ?

Excellent use of light texturing, and the glowing streams of 'energy' or whateever, those are superb.
What techniques did you use to create the effects? (brushes, filters, etc.) I'd love to know if you're willing to share.
Once again, excellent piece.
